“I’ll meet you there.” My voice comes out gruff. I can’t wait around for them to get their hands out of their pants.

Eric is outside in an idling car, waiting for me. It’s just the two of us because the rest need to stay with the shipment.

“She’ll b’ ’right, boss.” Eric’s voice is quiet as he follows the map I hold out in front of him. The address is only fifteen minutes away.

I don’t know why she’s been taken, why they chose her, and if it’s against me or Tony, but I’m sure as hell going to find out.

“She better be.” I pull the gun from my waistband and watch as it shakes in my hands. I can’t lose her. It’s simply not an option, not now and not ever.

“Boss.”

I must have fallen into a trance. When I look up, we are pulling into what looks like an abandoned industrial estate. All the signs above the warehouses are old and faded. Tony must own the whole thing—another address that isn’t on what we found out about him. His operations must be a lot bigger than what Walter and I thought.

“I think it’s that one.” He gestures to one with a faded linen services sign above the door. The small door built into the roller is ajar.

“Let’s get busy.” I slide off my jacket and chuck it onto the backseat.

He turns the car off, and we get out. After shutting the car doors silently and raising our guns at the ready, we approach the door. He takes hold of the handle and, when I nod, swings it open. I jump forward, scanning the room for any signs.

“Clear.” My voice is low. The only other sound is from our light footsteps as we walk through the main warehouse towards the doors at the back.

“Psychopath.” Alice’s voice cuts through the silence as we open one of the doors.

I spot her on the floor, lying on her side with her back towards us. The man standing above her has a hunting knife in his hands.

“Oi! Arsehole!” Eric storms forward into the room before me, drawing the man’s attention his way while I fire a round into the man’s leg.

It’s not enough. Blood sprays out from the wound onto the cement, but it’s not enough. I need to hurt this man until he takes his last breath, but first, I need to get Alice safe. I charge forward, my breath drawing a little easier with every step closer I get to my sweet girl.

I hear the roar of motor bikes pulling into the warehouse behind us, and a pit forms in my stomach. I just hope it’s Tony.

The man screams, dropping the knife to the floor and clutching his leg. But before he can follow it, Alice brings her legs up and back, planting her heel into his nose. The force of it sends his head snapping backwards, blood spouting in an arc. My beautiful girl just broke the motherfucker’s nose.

“That’s my girl.”

She looks up at me. Tears have welled up in her eyes, and they spill when she says my name.

“Joseph.”

With Eric standing watch over the guy and one eye on the door, I put my gun away in my waistband and reach for the pen knife in my pocket to cut her binds. “I’m here, baby. You’re safe now.”

As soon as her hands are free, she pulls her arms to her chest, groaning from the awful position she had been lying in. The pain on her face makes me want to start skinning, but none of that can be done with Alice nearby. I don’t want her to have to witness any more bloodshed than she has already.

“Boss.” Eric mutters a warning, his gun trained on the door.

I spin in time to see the bodies rush in and reach for my gun, until I see it’s Tony and the Hasting’s Hounds.

“You took your bloody time,” I curse him, my hands going down to help Alice sit up, rubbing her shoulders and trying to ease the aches she must have.

“Tony!” Alice begins to cry when she sees him.

Tony walks towards us, until he sees the look on my face. He must think taking her from me is a bad idea because he stops a few steps away. “Are you okay? Did he hurt you?”

“No…He—” She gulps and closes her eyes tightly. “He was going to, though.” Her voice comes out choked as she begins to shake with fear.

Not being able to stand the sight, my arse hits the floor with a thud, and I pull her into my lap. Alice is tense for a moment before sagging against me, her fists taking handfuls of my shirt. I don’t care that the men are watching. By the time I’m through with Alice’s kidnapper, they won’t doubt my strength.

“Harry…?”
