I wonder why he didn’t offer any words of welcome. I’ve thought about Charles all day. I miss him. Not that I could’ve said that with a room full of people.

I can’t stop thinking about being in his arms again, and it’s a serious workplace hazard.

With just half an hour to go until the end of the day, I decide to send him an email and take a chance.

Dear Mr. Cavendish,

I have a few things that I need to discuss with you regarding the Diosa project. I’m working on the next phase and could use your eye. Are you free this afternoon to discuss this?

Raven.

The reply is immediate.

Hello Raven,

Yes, this afternoon suits me. I’m working late tonight, so come in whenever you are free.

Sincerely,

Mr. Cavendish

I smirk, knowing it probably pained him to write that signature. I’m giddy at being able to spend some time alone with him. We’ll be at the office, so we can’t do anything, per my own rules, but at least we can talk and simply be in each other’s presence.

I wait until every person has left the building. Then I make my way over to Charles’s office.

“Mr. Cavendish, sir. I’m here for our meeting,” I say, grinning.

He laughs. “Come in, shut the door, and lock it.”

I do as instructed, and two hands grab me by the waist and spin me around. We’re chest to chest.

“What is this really about?” he asks.

“What do you mean?” I say innocently, batting my eyelashes.

“Well, you waited until everyone had left the building...”

“They have?” I say, feigning ignorance. “Wow, it’s later than I thought. I hope you don’t mind me taking up your time?”

“You’re playing games, Miss Bennett.” He grins down at me. “I approve.”

I lean up on my toes and place a kiss on his mouth. He immediately pulls me tightly against his chest and kisses me with fervor. I feel his impressive length harden, and my core clenches with need, but I force myself to pull away from him.

“No more of that,” I whisper. “We’re at the office.” I bite my bottom lip.

“You are such a tease,” he quips, moving a piece of hair behind my ear.

I laugh. “And you’re not?”

“I’m a lot of things, love. But a tease?” He scoffs. “I think not.”

“Then what would you call yourself, Mr. Cavendish?”

His lips purse, and his eyes narrow in on me. “First of all, I thought we established that behind closed doors, I’m Charles.”

He runs his hand through my hair, and I lean into his touch.

“Hmm,” I say dreamily. “Charles.” His name rolls off my tongue, and his eyes darken. “What else?”
