“Great… more.” I can barely breathe a word.

My answer is answer enough. He slides in until there’s no room left. Pausing a moment before his movements become faster. I know this won’t take long, and I don’t care.

Every thrust sends a new wave of pleasure to my core, causing my sensitivity levels to spike. I match his movements, becoming so alive.

The electricity between us becomes intense. Harvey knows the moment I start coming undone because he’s taking my lips with his and absorbing every moan of sweet ecstasy I have to give. While resting all his weight on one arm, his other hand rubs circles over my clit. It’s my undoing as my orgasm ripples through me. I ride it out as Harvey rides out his own, leaving us both sated. He rolls to his side, then from out of nowhere pulls a blanket over us, wrapping me in his arms as we lay on the cushions.

“I’d be lost without you.”

His admission is on the cusp of a whisper as we both fall into slumber.

Be still my heart.

Be still.

A high-pitched scream startles me awake and I realize I’ve woken up with the blanket around my feet. The moment my brain registers I’m as naked as the day I was born, I scream in return. This then startles Harvey who bolts upright, which takes the blanket I just retrieved with him making me exposed again.

“Shit,” he exclaims as realization hits.

I’m now holding the top of the blanket over my head, hiding from Josey who is now repeating the word “Ew” over and over.

I move as Harvey disturbs the cushions, while he no doubt tries to find some clothes. His quiet muttering and curses are indication enough of his efforts.

I stay hidden, beyond mortified that Josey caught us. Now that the high-pitched frequency has been taken care of, I hear Harvey and Josey’s voices in the distance.

I’m about to sneak a peek to find out who exactly is here, fearing Preston also received an eye full, when a sharpyapscares the shit out of me then a wet pointy nose pokes through.Yap yap.Asher pushes through the gap, surprising me while also deciding he’s going to join me.

“Hey boy, you scared me.” I chuckle. “Did you miss me?” I pet his little head and down his back, which is now free of his costume. He wriggles around, getting as close as he can before laying down next to me.

A dog’s intuition isn’t often wrong. Right now, I have more nerves rolling through me than before I go on stage to perform. We both stay hidden beneath the blanket until I hear the front door close.

“It’s safe to come out now.” Harvey is standing at my head holding a shirt when I poke my head out. I take it with thanks and put it on hoping not to disturb the little fluffball, now sound asleep.

“He really likes you, you know. He didn’t even say hello to me when Josey put him down. He trotted straight over to you.”

I can sense the conversation crossing into dangerous territory. We haven’t yet spoken about the fact we have merely one month left together before I leave.

“Harvey, don’t. Please.” I don’t have the willpower to fight with him. Not after our amazing night together.

“I don’t want to either beautiful, but we have to be realistic. Your time is ending here, and with the busy schedule you’ll have—continuing your rehabilitation combined with training—your schedule will be full.”

Harvey has a point. We both know the reality of what will become of my life in the city and it won’t end well for our relationship. I have lots of work to rebuild my reputation let alone the excruciating long hour days.

“I don’t want this to be our ending, Harvey, but I think you’re right. To tease ourselves any longer wouldn’t be fair, despite how amazing we are together.” It pains me immensely to admit. Especially when I’m standing in front of the most amazing man in one of his shirts.

“Why don’t we allow ourselves tonight, then when tomorrow comes and for the rest of your time here if we can’t figure out a way to make this work, then we’ll go our separate ways?” Harvey’s suggestion has left me incomplete. My heart is neither full nor empty; I’m stuck in limbo.

“Considering your team is helping me set up my plan for back home, I’m sure we can find a way to make this work.” Let’s hope I’m not fooling myself.

I need this to work.

Chapter Sixteen

Evelyn

I’ve worked incredibly hard for the past three months building my muscle memory and preparing myself for the real world. When I first entered the FORT Center, I never imagined I’d become so close with the staff here, especially Mrs. M. They’ve become my extended family.
