The faces in the transport all turned to Hugh, and Ryker leaned forward and sniffed at him, suddenly laughing. “No way!”
“What?” Paxton quickly asked as she sniffed the air.
Ryker looked at me, then Angelina and back to Hugh. “He’s like you.”
“What? No way.” Josh glared around my side and stared hard at Hugh.
I sighed, “Look, this cannot leave the transport right now. Hughislike me, and Angelina. He’s a reborn, or he will be if he transitions.”
Jett snickered from the other side of the transport, “Lucky son of a bitch.”
“How is that possible?” Josh asked gruffly and then looked at me hard, “How long have you known?”
“Only a few hours, calm your ruffled tailfeather, Josh.”
“When is he going to transition?” Lorna asked eyeing Hugh in a different way than she previously had been.
“I don’t know that I am.” Hugh stated, and shocked everyone in the vehicle besides Angelina and me.
“Why would you not?” Jett said on a laugh, “Did you not see what the Mistress was able to do back there? A reborn has incredible power.”
I glanced at Hugh as Angelina whispered into my mind,“You felt it, didn’t you? When I touched you and he was holding my hand, it was so much more powerful than before.”
“I did.”
Hugh spoke again, “That’s a huge decision to make, and I need some time to make it.”
“I don’t know. If it were me, I’d be jumping on it without hesitation.” Ryker said. “I noticed the power you lent to the Mistress.”
“What power?” He asked and I glared at Ryker for a moment.
“Must you always be so preceptiveandvocal, Ryker?” I said to him. “Yes, I noticed it.”
“What power?” Hugh asked again.
Angelina turned to him, “Did you notice that when I touched Kristin in there, that she seemed to come alive with energy, and her eyes glowed even brighter?”
“Yeah, and her hands were glowing slightly, too.”
“Yeah, wellthathas never happened before. That was because of you, Hugh. When I touch her myself, I lend her my strength. It’s like adding another battery to hers and her power grows. I was holding your hand when I touched her. You, Hugh, have incredible power inside of you. I cannot imagine what you will be like once you join us.”
“I don’t know that I will.” He stated again.
Oh, he would. He was going to transition over even if I had to do it myself. After tasting his strength earlier, I was determined to have him on our side. Cameron was right, mating with Hugh would be smart. Now to make him realize that.
