“I already told you I’m moving to Millerstown, Roman.”

“Where the hell are you going to live?”

“Well, I need to find a place, but for a little while, I’m going to stay at Lee’s parents’ house.”

His jaw dropped. “You’re going to stay with people that you don’t even know? That’s pretty fucking stupid, Rox.”

“I do know them, Roman, and they are very nice people.”

He laughed as he shook his head. “You’re such a sucker for people, Rox. That’s why your business failed.”

“Hey!” I snapped. “My business failed because Susan stole all my clients, Roman. If I had more money to invest in my company, I would have done fine.”

He shrugged as he looked away. “When are you moving?”

“Lee is going to help me get some of my things moved on Thursday, but I have until the end of February to get my house packed and find a place to live.”

“So you’re going to be working for another company, not yourself anymore?”

“Well, I still have the wedding with Charlotte and Wes that I am doing, but it is at the country club.” I shrugged. “So, I guess it’s all wrapped up together. I’m also helping with a Valentine’s party, although I’m volunteering for that.”

“A party? Why would you do that?”

“Because it’s a way to meet more clients, and I wanted to help Lee’s mother out.”

He compressed his lips and shook his head. “I don’t know what you see in that guy. He’s a douche.”

I raised a brow. “I bet he says the same thing about you, Roman.”

“Yeah, whatever.” He pushed off the counter. “I still don’t like the idea of you going to live with his parents.”

“I’m not going to live there, Roman. I’m staying there for a couple of weeks until I can find a place of my own and get moved. It was very nice of them to offer.”

“You’re not moving in with him, are you?”

“Um, no,” I muttered as I rolled my eyes. “We aren’t to that point in our relationship.” I turned away from him and rinsed out my glass. “And even if I was, you have no say in the matter. I’m a grown woman, Roman. I can take care of myself.”

“I’m not so sure about that, Rox. I know you think you can, but if you move away, who is going to watch out for you?”

“I just told you that I can take care of myself.” As I stared at my brother, I noticed that he looked almost sad. I approached him, putting my hand on his arm and lowering my voice. “Roman, I swear, I will be fine, and I won’t be that far away. You can visit.”

He chortled. “Yeah, and do what?”

I shrugged as I stepped away. “I don’t know, but I’m sure we can find something. Maybe we can take up golf. They have a nice golf course at the country club.”

He chuckled. “Somehow, I can’t imagine you and me playing golf.”

“Yeah, well, I never imagined us going ice skating either, but we did.”

He barked out a laugh. “Yeah, and look how good that turned out; you broke your wrist.”

I grinned at him. “Yeah, but I’m pretty sure I could manage golf.”

“With your luck, you’d get pegged in the head with a stray golf ball.”

I snickered as I watched my brother, glad that he had calmed down. I knew that he was only worried about me, but it was time for him to stop. “I promise that I’ll stay in touch. I’m not going to just disappear, Roman.” Not like Mom did, I said to myself, but I knew he would probably hear the unspoken words.

“Yeah, make sure that you don’t.” He sighed. “I’m off tomorrow; want to go car shopping? The insurance company looked at your car today and declared it totaled, so they should be cutting you a check. You can either put that toward your loan after you get one or use it for something else.”
