This time she released the sounds freely, not holding back in the slightest, and I reveled in them. The more she made, the harder I got until I was throbbing so badly, I needed to bring us over the crest together. I rolled to the side, gathering her close to me and kissed her brow.

“That was incredible,” she murmured, and her content sigh whispered over my chest caused goosebumps.

“It was more than incredible.”

She shifted her head so she could see my face. “Is there a word for more than incredible?”

“Mind-blowing,” I replied, and she grinned.

“Oh, yes, mind-blowing. It was that, and phenomenal, too.”

I hugged her close. “All those wrapped up into one.”

She kissed my chest and closed her eyes, holding me tightly. “I like you a lot, Lee.”

“And I like you a lot, Roxy.”

“Good.”

I curled her as tightly to me as I could without smooshing her. “Yeah, that is good.” I excused myself after a couple minutes to use the bathroom and discard the condom and was back at her side quickly.

She drew designs over my stomach for a few moments, and I tried not to flinch and pull away. The last thing I needed her to know was how ticklish I was. I had a feeling once she figured it out, she would use it against me.

“What are we going to do once I move?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, will you visit me?”

“Of course I will Roxy. I know it will be hard for both of us, but we will figure it out.” I paused, and she must have realized I did because she glanced up expectantly.

“Yes?” she said after a moment.

Memories of my past rushed back to me, and I contemplated the timing of this conversation. I’d decided before that I wasn’t going to move because of a woman again, but what if this was different?

“I didn’t tell you when we were at my parents’ house, but I was asked to apply for a paramedic position at the local firehouse in Millerstown.”

Her brows dropped low into a frown. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

I chuckled. “With everything else that was going on, I didn’t get a chance.”

“Are you going to apply?”

“I don’t know.”

She lifted herself up to her elbow. “Do you want to?”

“I do, and I don’t.”

She laughed and sat up against the pillow, pulling the cover over her body. “Well, let’s talk about this.”

I chuckled again. “Do you really want to discuss this?”

She nodded. “Of course I do, Lee. This affects your life and could affect our relationship.”

“Okay.” I shifted myself to my side so I could see her better. “It would be nice to be back in my hometown and near my parents and siblings. On the flip side, I like the firehouse that I run with now, and I like Plattsville.”

“Oh, tough decision,” she commented.
