“Can I open the door?”

“No, wait till I get there so I can make sure it’s him,” I told her as I came into the living room and heard the knock. Marisol looked like she was going to explode with excitement. I peered through the peephole.

“Okay, you can open the door. It’s safe.”

She flipped the bolt and then yanked open the door, “Doctor Young! Are we really going to go have pizza?”

He totally ignored me and squat down in front of Marisol, “We totally are. Is that okay with you? If it’s not, we could go to this other place and have liver and onions if you’d rather have that.”

Marisol made a face and stuck her tongue out, “Yuck! No, I want pizza.”

“Alright, then pizza it is.”

Marisol spun around toward me as she stood, and I couldn’t even comprehend what she was saying as Wes’s blue gaze latched onto mine. All I could think about was the kiss we had last shared, and how he said he was going to do that as often as possible. Was now to soon? “Come in,” I said to him. “Marisol, go get your jacket.”

“But it’s not cold out.” She whined.

“It will be once the sun goes down, now go get it.” I was almost breathless as I continued to stare at Wes, and his gaze flipped off me momentarily to watch her race from the room.

He swooped in toward me the minute she was out of the room. Our lips fused, and my soul sighed. Thankfully he was listening because my brain had shut down and too soon it was over, and Marisol was back into the room.

“Hi,” He said softly. “Sorry, to rush into that, but I couldn’t wait another second.”

“I’m not complaining,” I replied.

He winked, “Okay, you ready to go?” He asked Marisol, and I turned to get my purse.

“Yes! I’m ready!” She jumped up and down for a moment.

“Have you used the poddy? Because we are going to be in the car for a little while.”

Marisol paused and frowned. “No, I better go.” I watched her rush out of the room again, and when I turned, Wes was converging on me again.

“That should give us at least a minute, or two.” I chuckled as his lips met mine and wrapped one arm around his shoulders while I let my other hand slip over his soft, silky hair. I’d been dying to do that since Saturday, and the feeling didn’t disappoint.

Neither did the kiss, and I was breathless when we stopped. “You take my breath away, Charlotte.”

“The feeling is mutual, Wes,” I whispered back, and he kissed my nose as off in the distance the toilet flushed and then water began to run.

I had my jacket and purse when she returned, “Where are we going?” I asked as I pulled the door closed and locked it.

“Oh, this little mom and pop place about forty miles away.” He took my hand and stepped toward me with a wink, “Trust me, okay? You’re going to love this place.”
