“I’m glad you understand.Are you happy with Zander?”
She smiled at me.“More than you could ever know.It’s like life has finally clicked into place, and I know my rightful place because I am with the right person.”
“I’m happy for you.Can you show me our child?”
“Of course.”
As I continued to drink slowly from her, she shared the entire birth and more with me.The last image she shared was of our daughter touching her face, and I could feel the power in my daughter’s touch through her thoughts.
I removed my fangs, licked the holes, and smiled at her.“She is wonderful, and I love the name Briella.”
“I hope that you don’t mind that I named her.”
“Not at all.I think it is a beautiful name for a beautiful child.”
“I’m glad that you approve.”
We stared at one another, and I felt the love that I had for her.It was nothing like the way I felt for Angelina, but in a way, it was stronger.Perhaps that was because she had given me a new life and also a child.
I cupped her cheek.“You know I love you, right?”
“I do, and I love you.I hope that you can find happiness with my sister.”
“I think we are going to be alright.”
She winked at me.“I think you will.Keep resting, and I’ll see you soon.”
“How soon?”
“We aren’t sure yet, but it won’t be long.We just need to deal with a few things and gather our forces.”
“Be safe, Kris, and kiss Briella for me.”
She leaned forward and kissed me tenderly.“I shall, Hugh.”
With that, she left, and I scooted back down into the bed and drifted back off to sleep to let her magical blood work.
When I woke again, I found Angelina lying beside me, watching me.“Well, hello there, Sleeping Beauty.”
I chuckled and turned to my side.“I should be saying that to you.”
She caressed the side of my face.“You look like you are much better.”
“I am.I’m starving.”
“I will have food brought up for you.”She started to get up, and I grabbed her arm.
“Food can wait.I need you first.”She leaned back down on her elbow and brought her face closer to mine.
“I don’t think you are quite up for that.”
“I didn’t mean sex.I meant a kiss or a dozen.”
She snickered.“A dozen kisses I can do.”
After half of that dozen, I stared at her.“What is your mate going to say?”
