She remained quiet for a few moments, and I reached over and touched her leg.“And I am aware that you don’t go to see him.I was just surprised to find him with you this morning when I woke up.”
She cocked her head.“Is that why you wanted to have sex?To put your claim on me again?”
I laughed huskily.“Maybe, but I had already decided yesterday that I needed to clean up my act and be a better mate.It was just bad timing.”
“Why have you decided that?”
“Because I owe you a lot for what you have done for me and because I know you need help.I’m here to do that, Kristin.”
“I appreciate that.You know that’s why I went to see Zander this morning.I just wanted to talk to someone that might understand.”
“Then talk to me.I might not get it all, but I might be able to help.”
“I will,” she said with a tentative smile.“I think it’s time to start discussing what is going to happen and make some plans for when we open the doors.”
“It’s a mess out there.”
“Yes, I know.I’ve seen the news.”
“Yeah, well, I’ve seen it through your sister’s eyes.The news doesn’t show it all, but she sees front-line stuff.”
“You will have to tell me what you saw.”
“Maybe I should tell everyone on the board at once.”
“Might be a good idea.”
“Kristin,” I paused.“Maybe you should release your friends and Zander.They might be helpful in this.”
Her brows popped.“You want me to release Zander?”
“Do I want that?No, but do I think he could help?Yes.He does have a lot of experience as Julian.”
“I will think about it.It would be good to have Zander’s thoughts on what is going on.I always trusted him before when it came to working through something.”
“Alright, and so you know, Angelina is in Detroit.I don’t know exactly where, but I know she is there, and she is with some other people that she found.”
“Well, that’s good to know.I’m glad you have that connection with her so that we can keep an eye on her.”
“Yeah, me too.”I hesitated.“Are you mad at me for not telling you I could do that?”
“Mad, no, but I’m not happy that you kept it from me.I thought you trusted me more.”
“I promise I will make it up to you.”Even if that means having to tolerate Zander around her, I thought to myself as I winked at her.
