“I’d offer to give you another therapy session, but I don’t think here is the place.”
He laughed into my head.“Yeah, probably not, and you don’t need to.”
“Hush, Gid.No one should have to live like that.If I can help you, then I will do everything I can.You deserve to be whole.”
“Oh, and here I just thought you wanted to give me another blow job.”
I snickered back to him.“Oh, that’s just a bonus for both of us.”
He grinned at me momentarily.“Did you know you could do that?”
“No, I told you that I had no clue.When you mate with another reborn, your power grows, and you find you have different abilities.However, my sister can control her blood in someone else’s body.That’s what gave me the idea.”
“Can your sister repair damaged tissue?”
“I have no idea.I never asked her.I didn’t know I could do it until I just had this feeling that I could.”
“Yeah, well, that is pretty damn impressive.”
“I might have to agree with you.”
“Get some rest.It’s going to be a long ride, and we don’t know if we’ll have any trouble to deal with.”
“Good idea.”
As it turned out, we didn’t have any trouble.We drove all night and were in Pennsylvania by early morning.Steve found a place for us to crash safely, and once the sun set again, we slipped out and went by foot.We were only thirty miles from our location, and while it would take a while, we could do it if we moved fast.
By the time we got to the meeting point, I was exhausted.All I wanted to do was eat something good, have sex with Corbin, and then pass out, in that order.
A truck pulled up, and a couple of friendly guys got out of the cab.One of them studied me.“Aren’t you Angelina Michaels?”
“Yeah.Do you have a problem with that?”
“Not at all.”He glanced at the guy with him, and it made me just a little bit nervous.“Just surprised.Thought you were locked up in your fancy hotel with the mistress.”
“Nope, I’m out here with everyone else.”
“Well, lucky us.Load up.Let’s get back.The sun will be up soon.”
The sun was cresting the horizon.I could feel it in my bones.We bumped down a long road, and the sounds of a garage door being closed behind us reached my ears.Suddenly, I was nervous about finding out where we were.
“You okay?”Corbin asked me.“I feel your anxiety.”
“Yeah, just not sure where we are.Makes me a little jumpy.”
“We’re safe.Relax.”
I wanted to laugh, but I didn’t.Instead, I braced myself as the door to the container opened and light flooded the interior.People helped everyone out.We were in another warehouse of some kind, and it wasn’t until a group of people began to approach us that my hackles went up.
He came straight toward me.“Angelina Michaels.It’s about time we meet.I heard you have been looking for me for quite some time.”He stuck his hand out.“I’m Joseph Portage.Welcome to my home.”
