“Nothing.”He shrugged.“He said nothing other than asking where you were.”
“Let me see him.”
“No.”
I spun and got in his face.“Unless you want two people to tear you to shreds, you let Angelina see him.”
He studied me.“You realize that if she loves him the way I think she does, you will eventually lose her.”
“What happens between us is none of your fucking business.”
“But alas, it is.We need reborn mates to win this fight.”
“You are aware that if you keep torturing this guy, you are only going to piss off the mistress, and she is going to tear your head off, not work with you.”
“Perhaps.”He stared at me.“You remind me of my brother.God rest his soul.”
“You motherfucker!”Angelina yelled.“You killed your brother!”
He smiled at her.“I did, but he was weak.”He turned back to me.“Don’t be weak.”
“How long are you going to hold Hugh?”Gideon asked.
“Until the mistress arrives.Which I feel will be soon.If she is still with child, then she will need her mate back to feed her.If she has lost that child, then I expect to feel her vengeance come raining down.”
He bent to pick up his chair.“And Angelina, I expect you to stop her before she does.If you do not, neither of you will see him alive again.Now release my men and the other guests here.”
Angelina was furious, but I whispered into her head,“Come on, Lena.Let them go.Let’s go back upstairs and talk about this.”
“I want to see him.I need to know he is okay.”
“You can see him later.Not now.”He sank back into his chair.“And I suggest you behave yourself, or you will end up right next to him.”
Gideon was already pushing her out of the lounge.I closed my eyes to focus on the compulsion again, finally finding how to release it.The room erupted in turmoil as people shifted back into motion.
His men immediately flanked him, and I backed away a distance before I spun on my heel and went to find Gid and Lena.How the hell was I going to keep Angelina calm until her sister showed up?And holy fuck—what was the mistress going to do once she arrived?
