“You don’t have to answer that. It’s rhetorical, Eve. I know how much of a slut you are. I see it on your soul. But why don’t we show Daddy?”

He dropped me to the floor, keeping his hand on my jaw and mouth and using the other to undo his pants. Freeing his cock, I stared in horror at the appendage. It was huge, like Luc’s, but his was nubbed from the head to the base—looking like it was covered in warts. He stroked it several times, lining it up to my mouth when a bloodcurdling growl echoed through the room.

LUCIFER

In the middleof cleaning up the boys, I heard her scream. It was so close, so jarring, and her terror was palpable. But where was it coming from?

I don’t know much about mating connections, but I could sense her energy through our growing bond?

Then she screamed again, and it dawned on me that this wasn’t our connection. She was here, in the warehouse, and she was in trouble.

The cart skidded as I kicked it out of my way. It toppled, and the tools skittered across the ground as I ran out, following the echoes of Eve’s screams. I had no idea where she was, so transporting myself was a futile act. But there was one place that seemed most logical.

He didn’t notice me as I entered the room, taking in the scene before me. On her knees, mouth forced open, mybrotherwas preparing his cock, intending for Eve to service him. My scent lingered heavily on her, which should have been enough of a deterrent.

Apparently not.

A growl escaped me as my self-control snapped. It was a precursor, a giveaway of my presence and intention, but it wouldn’t give Asmodeus enough time to prepare himself. Transporting right behind him, I shifted and wrapped my hand around his throat, lifting him off the ground. I threw him across the room with such force that his back plunged against the concrete walls, which caved around his body. Slabs of broken stone collapsed around him as he sunk into a heap on the floor. He didn’t stay down for long, and I growled again when he rose, shifting into his true form.

Eve still knelt between us, and it took a moment for me to sense the magic holding her in place. With a wave of my hand, I freed her. She fell onto her hands but immediately pushed herself up and rushed to the priest. She intended to relieve him of his bindings, and while that was asmallissue, it was nothing I couldn’t deal with once I sent Asmodeus back to Hell.

Baring my fangs, I launched myself at my brother as he did the same, and we slammed into each other with the force of a bomb. The room around us exploded as we grappled in a furious ball of fangs, claws, and magic. His nails dragged along my flesh, digging out long, jagged marks from my shoulder to my chest.

I leaned in, biting his ear as I yanked it and part of his cheek from his face and spat it onto the floor in disgust. His shrieks echoed around us as I grabbed him by the throat. He scratched at my face, aiming for my eyes.

He could physically hurt me, but the wounds would heal with time. And scars were the least of my concern. Asmodeus realized this after a moment, and his eyes flicked toward Eve. The telltale sign was a fraction quicker than me, and he soared across the room to her, lifting her by the hair. She shrieked in pain as Father Adams grabbed her outstretched hands, trying to pull her back. Instead, they both rose as Asmodeus flapped and hovered just below the ceiling.

The room was at least thirty feet high, so a fall for their mortal bodies would result in serious injuries. But then he flipped around his hold, shaking the priest off her. He fell to the ground, a resounding crunch echoing through the room. As she stared at the mangled body, Eve screamed again, and Asmodeus grasped her single ankle, tilting her head toward the floor.

If he dropped her now, I was certain it would cause a permanent spinal injury.

“If you hurt her, I will not only send you back to Hell, Deus, I will eviscerate your soul and ensure you are never spoken of again. So, when I say, put her the fuck down, I mean gently and without harm.”

“How fascinating. It was a surprise to all when Beelzebub claimed a human as his mate. And then Satan taking Reina. Hell, by the time Mammon did it, it was less a surprise and more an expectation. But you? You, Lucifer, have mated with ahuman?Have you forgotten what they are? Souls. Meal tickets. Flesh and holes. Nothing more. There is nothing special about this woman, and if she were to die here today, I could find you a thousand more like her to stick your cock in, and they would all feel the same. We both know this, so why are you betraying your brethren for this meat sleeve?”

I saw fire. I’d lived my life around it. Enmeshed in it. Consumed by it. But never had it blinded me with such rage that there was nothing else around me except the flames licking at my skin, driving me to impulse.

With a roar, I launched myself at him and grabbed him by the neck, driving him backward into the wall. My claws sunk into his thews as I ripped them straight out of his body. My hold remained even as it tried to slump lifelessly to the floor. I flew us through the roof and dove straight toward the earth, calling out the ancient words that opened the entrance to Hell for me. We sailed right through, descending into the depths, and kept going until I finally reached a pit of hellfire and damnation.

This was the only way to ensure his total destruction.

Tossing the corpse inside, I stood back and returned to my human vessel as the flames consumed him like hungry imps, feasting greedily on his flesh until nothing was left.

Control slowly returned to me as the fires died, and the familiar echoes of this world brought me back to the present. Exhaling slowly, I closed my eyes and grounded myself in the power of my home. Once I had a grip on my sanity, I turned to ascend back to Earth when I stumbled in my step.

“Eve.”

“Is this …? Am I …?” She stared at her hands in fear before looking at the world around her. “Oh, God.” She covered her mouth and rushed to me, folding her perfect body along mine for protection. My arms curled around her lithe form, holding her tightly as I kissed the top of her head.

“You’re safe, little dove. No one will hurt you in this domain. I am king.”

“But I’ve already been hurt … by you.” She turned her face to me, and her expression speared me, making my knees buckle. “You grabbed Amadeus and flew us into the sky. When his muscles relaxed, he released me, and I fell back through the hole in the warehouse ceiling, landing on the floor. Then I woke up here.” She sucked in a sharp breath. “I’ve gone to hell for sleeping with a demon. Of course, I have. That’s blasphemy 101. But I’m dead. Am I stuck here? Do I get tortured for eternity now?” She was spiraling as she thought aloud, and I tightened my hold on her, drawing her back to me.

“Eve. I will not leave you here. I told you, I will protect you. That means restoring you to the place where you belong.”

“Demons can bring people back to life?”

My face must’ve flickered with sadness because her face fell when she realized I couldn’t. “I can make it possible, though, to return to your life.”
