"You. I'm just. I feel like I'm dreaming right now. This whole thing… coming home to you… it's… unbelievable."

"I'm unbelieving-it too. I feel like I'm dreaming, here, Micah." I looked down and bit my lip, knowing the tension was thick between us. I took his hand. "Come on. We can put your stuff up later. Let's go swimming."

"Swimming?"

"Yeah, I thought you might want to go swimming."

"What are you wearing swimming?" he asked.

"A swimsuit. I have one on under this."

"What am I going to wear?"

"Some swim trunks. I have them set out right there."

He cut his eyes in the direction where I gestured, and then back at me. "Are those mine?" he said.

"They are now. I bought them for you."

He looked at them again, and I took in the shapes of the side of his face.

"I'm going out by the pool," I said. I kissed him, next to his mouth, and it sent an electric shock through my body. "You can meet me out there."

I looked over my shoulder and smiled at him on my way outside. I wouldn't be able to see him once I closed the door, so I waved at him through the crack as I closed it.

I knew Micah would change right away, and that sent a spark through me. I started shedding my clothes, feeling like if I didn't get undressed and into the pool quickly enough he would come get me and throw me in. It was an entirely made-up situation, but it motivated me, and I moved like lightning, shrugging out of my shirt before working on my shorts. I imagined that he was moving quickly and giving chase even though I had no clue what he was doing.

I had previously set up an area near the pool with towels, food, and drinks, and I set my clothes in a not-so-neat pile on a nearby chair. I took off my watch and necklace and I instantly went into the pool, fast-walking down the steps without stopping until the water was at my waist. I took a deep breath and went in to my chest.

I stayed in the shallow end, looking at the dark blue water of the deep end, which was between me and the doorway where Micah would eventually appear. It was a few seconds later when I saw him come outside wearing the purple-ish red shorts I bought for him. He did have abs. I couldn't help but notice them.

Micah didn't look around or make sure we had a towel. He didn't hesitate at all. He smiled as he jogged to the pool and dove into the deep end. I let out an excited shriek as I watched his body slice through the water, heading straight toward me.

Micah swam all the way to me and came up just a few feet away. He came up smoothly and wiped his face, blinking as he focused on me.

"That was fast," he said.

"I know, I was afraid you were chasing me, so I ran."

"Chasing you?"

I shrugged. "I just imagined it."

Micah's hands wrapped around my waist and I leaned into him. We were more skin-to-skin than we had ever been before, but the water made us weightless, so it felt innocent. My skin glided against his—our arms and legs gently touching. I gripped him, holding onto him, and he took me into deeper waters where he could still touch. I reached up and ran my fingers through his wet hair. I loved the feel of his body next to mine.

"What are you smiling about?" he asked, pulling back to focus on my face.

"I'm thinking I was pretty smart for taking you swimming." I touched his face and let my fingertips run down to his cheek and jaw. "I'm happy. I think you're handsome."

"I probably need a shower," he said.

I grinned. "You're in a shower," I said.

I held onto Micah with my legs, but let my head go back and away from him, dunking my whole upper body and head completely under before coming up. I let the water run down my face before squinting and wiping it away.

He kissed me on the mouth as soon as I opened my eyes.

"You will always be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, Claire. Nothing can top you. No one is better. How am I holding you? How is this happening?"
