"I feel like it's crazy, too, Micah. I'm feeling achy for you—like I never ever want to be apart from you again. I latched onto him, wrapping my arms around his broad chest and resting my face on his chest.

"Do I get you forever?" he asked.

I wasn't looking at him when he said it, but I pulled back and regarded him after I heard the question.

"Yes," I said.

"I do?"

"Yes," I answered, with no hesitation.

"Are you serious?"

I kissed his cheek and then his jaw and then his cheek again. I tasted the hint of salt in the water.

"What was the question? Do I love you forever? Am I serious? The answer is yes. I love you, Micah. I mean that with my actual whole heart."

"Your actual whole heart?" he said, smiling. "Well, if it's your actual heart, then, wow."

"Yeah," I said.

I moved to where I was positioned fully in front of him. I let a little water flow between us, but I could feel his warmth and his hard muscles, and it took all of my strength to refrain from wrapping myself around him like an anaconda.

"I love you forever, Micah Lacey. I love the Logan Lacey in you. I love your story and our history. I love all of you."

"I love that you bought that shirt new and took the tags off," he said.

"That wasn't the only thing I did that with," I said. "You're my favorite person to shop for." I felt a little shy admitting that, and I squirmed a little and looked downward. Micah's face came down to meet mine, and our lips found each other's. He kissed me—our mouths opening more readily since our skin was wet from pool water. Our kiss was open instantly, but it was patient and slow, and we spent the next who-knows-how-long out there. We were in the middle of the deep and shallow end being as gentle as we could be with about a million volts of electricity flowing through both of our bodies. We floated weightlessly in the water and we stood there and kissed. We smiled and said a few things here and there, but there wasn't much talking. Micah held me and kissed me over and over again, and I adoringly kissed him back. This happened for what must have been a half-hour.

Finally, I pulled back and went under again, letting water wash over my face. Micah did the same thing, and when he did, we both started swimming.

"Are you hungry?" I asked, hovering in the water, going into the deep end.

"Yes," he said, holding onto my hand and giving me support since he was standing.

"I have stuff set out for us over there. A whole lunch and drinks."

"You have lunch set out? Why didn't you tell me before?"

"Because you were kissing me, and I didn't feel like stopping you."

"You don't feel like stopping me when I kiss you?" he asked, tugging me toward him. He pulled hard, but I was in water, so I moved slowly, causing us to collide gracefully in the water.

"No, I don't feel like it at all," I said. "I'm likely to stand here all day and let you kiss me if you like."

"I like that very much." He kissed my wet neck. "But we might turn into a couple of raisins."

I glanced at him with a serious expression and asked, "If raisins are in love, do they even notice they're raisins?"

"No, they don't," he answered, smiling and kissing my neck.

Chapter 19

Micah and I wore ourselves smack-dab out that afternoon. We ate and swam and kissed and talked and laughed, and then we did those things again. It was after 3pm when we made our way into the living room to fall asleep, and that was why we slept past our alarm. Actually, we had been so entranced by seeing each other again that we forgot to set an alarm. We curled up on the couch and started a movie, and the next thing I knew, I was shaken out of a deep sleep by my brother Isaac who was standing over me, literally shaking my shoulder.

"Huh?" I said.

"What?" Micah said, jumping and sitting up and causing Isaac and Ari to laugh.
