I blinked, trying to take it all in and understand what was happening.

"It's a good thing we came early," Isaac said.

"You're early?" Micah said, sitting up. He reached for his shirt, which was on the coffee table. I watched as he stretched upward, pulling it over his head. I absentmindedly noticed the muscles in his back, knowing he was smoking hot but feeling so very out-of-it after that nap.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"Six-fifteen," Micah said, staring down at his phone like he couldn't believe it. "What happened with the food?" he asked, getting to his feet.

"I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone," I said, looking around.

"We got the food," Ari said.

"You did?" I asked, still feeling confused.

"Yeah, it's a good thing we came over early," Isaac said. "The girl from the restaurant was about to turn around and leave because she couldn’t get you to open the gate."

"Oh, my gosh, I have eight missed calls," I said, staring down at my phone in disbelief. "I thought we were going to get up at five."

"I thought so too," Micah said.

He walked over and leaned in to hug my brother and my sister-in-law. I saw that they had already set the tin trays of food on the kitchen counter.

"Thank you for getting the food," I said.

"She said it was paid for, so all we had to do was take it from her."

"I'm glad she believed you," I said.

"We had the code to the gate, so she didn't question it. She knew who it was for, though, and I think she was disappointed that she didn’t get to meet you. What's in the containers?"

"The lady was from a Mexican restaurant," Ari added.

"Yeah, it's fajitas," I agreed stretching sleepily. Micah saw me stretching, and he reached out to help me off of the couch.

Isaac and Ari walked toward the kitchen, not paying any attention to us, and Micah pulled me up and caught me in his arms, looking at me from only inches away. He kissed me, and our sleepy, relaxed mouths stuck to each other.

"I can't believe we slept so long," he said to me.

"Me neither. I'm sorry. I forgot to set the alarm. I need to go put these blankets and pillows away and get the couch all fixed up again before everyone else comes over."

I pulled away from him reluctantly. I was out-of-sorts as I gathered the blankets and pillows in my arms.

"You don't have to worry about it," he said. "Or I can always help you with those."

"I've got it," I assured him. "I'll just stash them in the extra bedroom and deal with them later." I smiled at him and took off with my arms full of blankets and pillows.

I was slow to come out of the haze that resulted from my nap, but I knew all the steps I had missed preparing for their arrival so I went to work doing all of that. I put on some music and offered them drinks, and I was still working on setting up the catering trays when Ryan came in with three other people—two girls and a guy—all of whom I had met before.

Right after Ryan showed up, my cousin JD and his wife Jordan did also. They were all pumped up about seeing Micah and congratulating him on the success of the song and his tour.

They asked questions about the tour while I went to work around the kitchen. I was comfortable at Micah's house, and I naturally fell into the role of playing hostess. Everyone was talking at the same time and they all wanted to ask Micah questions, so I focused on making sure everyone was comfortable.

An hour passed quickly as we all talked and ate. I made contact with Micah some, but his kitchen and living room we're bustling with action and each of us were being tugged in different directions.

I was in the kitchen talking to JD and Jordan when Micah came in with an empty plate. I took it from him and he thanked me.

"What's going on with you two?" JD asked, looking us over.
