My smile broadened and I nodded.

"Do I still need to propose to you?" he asked.

"Not when you already asked and I already agreed."

He pulled me closer. "Are we doing this?"

"Yes," I said smiling without hesitation.

"What are we doing?" Ryan asked, coming closer to us and overhearing.

"Getting married," I said. "Me and Micah."

I stayed close to him.

"Are you really?" Ryan asked. "When?"

"We don't know yet," Micha said.

"Yeah, we don't know yet."

Micah Lacey

A month later

The wedding

One thing had led to another that night in the pool. As soon as the family heard about Claire's ring, they started asking questions about when and where the wedding would happen. The whole thing was planned that night before any of them left Micah's house. Claire had to call her parents afterward to fill them in on everything.

Micah had thought that the earliest she would find the ring would be the following day, so he did not imagine their evening consisting of making fairly immediate wedding plans.

And there they were, one month later.

It was a summer wedding, and they held it out in the middle of nature at a camp that was owned by some of their family friends. The Williams family had property a half-hour outside of town on the Snoqualmie River. There was a large creek jutting off of the river and running through the property. It was a gorgeous, remote, shady, riverside spot where people went fly fishing.

They planned a morning wedding where they would all wake up early one Saturday and drive out to the river for a sunrise service. It had all gone off without a hitch. They spent a beautiful morning with family and close friends.

Micah had a few people there—Aiden and a few of his closest musician friends. On paper, however, the wedding was lop-sided. Micah had no family there whatsoever and Claire had all of hers. The Alexanders had become family to Micah as well, so nothing felt lop-sided at all. Her family was already his family, which only made this day that much sweeter.

The pastor said a few words in a beautiful, short service that took place as the day broke. He said something about it being a new day and a new start to something beautiful. His whole talk was really thoughtful and well-articulated, and Micah tried to listen, but today was the day he married the woman of his wildest dreams. She blew Madeline Caldwell out of the water.

Claire Alexander was unobtainable. She was out of his reach for so long, that this day of locking in their future was absolutely surreal to Micah.

"You got married at six-am," Isaac said, patting Micah on the shoulder afterward. "Sorry about that. We didn't think about post-wedding stuff when we helped you make these plans." He winked at Micah and clicked his tongue a couple of times.

"What are you sorry for?" Micah asked, not getting it.

"You know, it's before noon—broad daylight. Not that I want to think about you doing that with my sister, but… most of the time, it's dark and you leave the wedding with your bride."

"Oh, I assure you I don't care what time it is," Micah said easily, causing Isaac to laugh.

"I like your suit," Isaac said. "You two looked great up there."

"Thank you. I don't have to tell you how much I love her."
