Re: Hello back

I did have a few questions. I seemed to be involved in part of a book, but I think there might be someone else involved who lives in Chicago, because I do not work in advertising and I don't live in Illinois. A few other things, however, looked very familiar to me in the book called Café on the Corner by Jill Phillips. I was wondering if you knew anything about that.

Regards, Ari

I checked my phone continually since I was home, and I heard back within ten minutes.

Re: Hello back

Ari! Wow. Is it really you? Did you read the book? I'm sorry if it was all more dramatic than the story was in real life. Jill heard me telling someone about your shirt, and she took the story and ran with it. I'd love to talk to you. Can you take a phone call sometime? If so, please call my cell phone. If not, we can continue to email, but a phone call would be amazing!

Thanks, Isaac

I stared at the screen, blinking dazedly before reading the email again.Could I call Isaac? Should I call Isaac?Calling was a hundred times more intimate than email.Maybe I should text. But even as I had that thought, I was touching the phone number on the email since I knew it would link to the phone and make the call.

I pressed another button and I put the phone to my ear as the call connected.

"Ari?" My name was the first thing he said, and I curled up at the sound of his voice. I remembered what he looked like—at least I thought I did.

"Yes," I said, trying to seem like everything was totally normal.

"It's Isaac from Seattle."

"Yeah."

"You're the Ari with the horse shirt?"

"Yes, I am."

"You're really her. I can feel it."

"Have other Ari's called you?" I asked.

"Yes."

"Really?"

"A couple of fakes. I think it got out that it was a partially true story. I hope you're not upset. I didn't want you to read it and think I was some kind of stalker or anything, especially after the way we met. And then the book had the bit about the stalking boyfriend and everything. Jill wrote all that."

"No, no, I… I actually it was exciting, that bit where you fought the guy."

"Yeah, I thought I was pretty tough in that part."

We both laughed.

"I was really handsome and tough and everything, but it was so cheesy. I'd never say half of that stuff Isaac said."

"Well, me neither, and I'm definitely not in advertising."

"How about the boyfriend?"

"Hoaww," I was so caught off guard that I made an intelligible sound. "Huh? What did you say?" I asked, buying myself time.

"Do you have a jealous boyfriend?" he asked.
