"My brain is exploding," AJ said. "That's what I get for having a genius older brother."
"Yeah, I explode his brain all the time," Beau said dryly, messing around.
"He does," AJ said. "I have to use his old notes and ride his coattails with teachers just to get C's."
"What's your favorite subject?" I asked AJ.
"Besides lacrosse?" Rose asked.
"Yeah," I said.
"Probably history," AJ said.
"Definitely not science," Caleb added, giving AJ a hard time. Caleb whistled for Hank and told us goodnight since his guesthouse was down a different path. Hope and Charlie went with him. I was left with the Chicago clan—the three Cameron siblings.
"I'm putting a pizza in the oven," AJ said.
"I'll stay up with you," Rose said. "In the main kitchen or game room?"
"Main kitchen," AJ said.
She nodded and looked at Beau who shrugged.
"I'll stay up with you guys for a little while," Beau said.
"I'm going to bed," I said. "Little dude has me up at the crack of dawn."
"He won't let you sleep in?" Beau asked.
"He'll let me go back to bed after he wakes me up, but I usually can't go back to sleep. If I'm really tired, I will."
We made our way into the house. "Night, you guys!" I called, taking off and heading through the living room with Ralphie following close behind me.
"I'm going to use the restroom."
I heard Beau excuse himself to his brother and sister, and I turned to glance over my shoulder.
"Are you coming this way?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"I wanted to show you that old tag," I said, referring to something we spoke about earlier.
"Okay," Beau said, following me.
"I'm proud of you," I said once we were out of range for anyone to hear us.
"Me? For what?" Beau asked.
"We've been hanging out with your brother all night, and you're really confident and sure of yourself around him."
"I've always been confident around my brother," he said, not seeing what I was saying.
"Never mind," I said. "I'm just reminding you that you're more handsome than you think."
He glanced at me as we walked. He had caught up with me by that point and he walked next to me with Ralphie running ahead.
"What if I was already thinking I was handsome?" he said, joking around.
