"No. Casey knows, but not your dad. I figured I'd ask you first. If you don't want to do it, it's pointless to have mentioned it to him."

"Okay. I'm going to shower and change."

The two gentlemen embraced, Max patting Beau on the back a few times. "You're big," he said.

"You think?"

"Yeah, you're at least as big as AJ now."

"I was outweighing him lately, but I cut some weight eating nothing but airplane peanuts today."

"What are you doing? Working out?"

"Lifting. Eating."

"You look good."

"Thank you. That means a lot coming from you."

Max laughed. "I don't know, I think I sprained something jumping into the pool earlier."

"It was worth it," Beau said, laughing.

"Itwasworth it," Max said.

Max had been the grand champion of the Holland dive contest. His was hilarious.

Beau went to his room to shower, and Holland was waiting in the kitchen when he got out there twenty minutes later. Her hair was still damp, and it hung over her shoulders. She had on a matching pajama set—capris with a button-down short-sleeve shirt. It was pink with white stripes.

There was no way on earth Beau wassleeping on it. He was so excited to ask Holland about it that he could hardly wait until he made his way to the kitchen before he began talking.

"What are you doing?" he said, trying not to bring it up first thing.

"I'm getting a glass of water. I'll fix you some of that food if you want. I'm not hungry, but I'll make you a bowl."

He hesitated a few feet away, wondering what she would say when he told her.

"What areyoudoing?" she asked, flirting, returning his question and smiling at him as he got closer.

"I just got out of the shower."

She took him in as he walked toward her, tilting her head and blinking at him. Beau felt like he could absolutely devour her, eat her alive. He wanted to toss her over his shoulder and storm into the woods where no one else could have her.

"Speaking of kidnapping you, would you ever think about staying at this lake house for longer?"

"Longer?"

"Quite a bit longer."

"Who spoke of kidnapping?" she asked, her face looking somewhat confused.

"I thought of kidnapping. I'm looking at you, and you look so adorable in your pajamas that I… I only thought of it. But the thing is that I actually do want to kidnap you. Sort of. With permission. Uncle Max asked me to stay here in Broken Arrow instead of taking that job in Chicago. He wants to hire me temporarily to help him with a building project out here."

"So, it's an architect job?"

"Yeah, that and other things. I'll probably do physical stuff, too, helping him, Paul, and Eric. Whatever he needs done."
