“Excuse me?”

“One day, he’ll be forced to have you,” he said as he walked towards me. “On that day, the only cock I want you thinking of is mine.”

A thrill of excitement ran through me. “I’m sure I’ll forget you by next week.” Lies.

He shook his head. “I’ve tried being patient with you, princess.”

I put a hand on his chest. “You don’t give the orders here, Valen,” I warned him. “I do. And I say I’m leaving now. You can’t stop me.”

“Fine,” he said, though it was obviously anything but. “At least leave with a little discretion.”

“What? With a bag over my face?”

He growled. “Never,” he said forcefully. “Never talk about yourself like that.”

I shrugged. “What am I supposed to do?”

“Service stairs,” he said, like that was an answer.

“Cheeky little service stairs?” I asked, remembering Marco’s words.

Valen’s eyebrow rose. “You know where they are?”

“No, Valen,” I huffed. “I don’t. I haven’t had any cause to be sneaking out of the boys’ dorms before.”

Another angry twist marred his lips for a moment. “The only room you’ll be sneaking out of is mine,” he said, another warning.

“Where are they?” I asked, both thrilled by and sick of the possessive streak.

“I’ll show you.”

He pushed past me and went for his door. He held his arm over me as he looked out into the corridor, then nodded and held the door open for me.

“A girl might mistake you for a gentleman,” I teased.

“A girl isn’t that stupid,” he said absently as he kept scanning the corridor as though he thought someone was going to see us.

He led me the opposite way from the main stairs, closer to his room.

“Here,” he said, stopping at a door. “This’ll take you to the quad in front of your dorm.”

“That’s where they go,” I mused. Florence and I had always wondered where that door went but, the only time we’d been brave enough to investigate, it was locked.

I nodded and started for it, but he put an arm in front of me. I looked up at him and the moment was charged with something I didn’t want to name. For a moment, I thought he was going to kiss me. Then he shook his head, dropped his arm and kicked his head towards the door.

“Go.”

I went, not wanting to stay in that moment that so easily could have become something else.

The ache had been sated. For now.

But I knew there was a much deeper need in me to feel him again.

He’d said I needed to fuck him out of my system? Well, I didn’t know exactly how to do that, but I was going to find a way to try.

Chapter Twenty-One

“Yeah,” Florence said with a cheeky grin the next night. “But it’s a party. On a Wednesday. In the common room.”
