I was trying to do my homework and not think about what Valen had last done to me.

I smiled. “And I said you could go if you want.”

“I won’t get in without you!”

“Tell them I sent you,” I laughed. “Go on. Marco’s probably waiting on you.”

“Marco’s probably got his tongue down some Magdalen’s throat. Wait.” She grimaced. “Ew, does that make me a Magdalen?”

“No!” I shook my head. “No. You’re like me.”

She snorted. “I’mnevergoing to be a goddess. Much lesstheGoddess of Saint Benedicts. That’s all your fate, babe. I will leave that to you.”

I laughed. “Not what I meant. No. You’re not a Magdalen. You’ll never be a Magdalen. You could fuck Apollo himself and still not be a Magdalen. I won’t allow it.”

She gave me a side eye. “I’ve thought about it, you know.”

“Have you?” I smirked.

She nodded. “Yeah. I didn’t hate it.”

“I’ll bet you didn’t!”

She scrunched her face up and nodded. “You don’t mind?”

“Mind?” I chortled. “Floss, you get to do whatever you want in the privacy of your own brain. Besides, I can hardly complain. I think I’m still sore, and Valen was…only just last night.”

She chuckled. “Yeah. Just the sound of that gave me a touch of green envy.”

If a guy was ever going to challenge you to fuck him out of your system, that had definitely been the kind of sex to do it after.

I still thought about it. Vividly. I was replaying it in my head so many times, I felt like a broken record up there.

It wasn’t just that the sex had been good – better than good. It was how it had felt. How we’d felt. The air of passion and possession and obsession that had swirled around us, encompassed us. Something had shifted, albeit very slightly, and I doubted it would ever be the same again.

I sighed. “It was amazing.”

“It sounded it. And you’re still adamant it’s not happening again?”

“He said the only chance we have is if I fuck him out of my system–”

“Which you don’t want to do,” she reminded me, but it felt more like a question.

I nodded. “If I do that, then I have to actually acknowledge that it means...something.”

She looked at me like I was an idiot. “And what’s wrong with that?”

“Floss, I can’t have any kind ofsomethingwith Valen Kincaid. It doesn’t matter if it’s good sex–”

“Great sex,” she corrected.

“Tremendous sex,” I agreed. “And it doesn’t matter if it’s just sex or more or whatever. I can’t have anything that means something with him. Fucking him out of my system acknowledges that it’s something.”

“I think we’re past that point, babe.”

“Yes.” I nodded. “You and I know that, but Valen doesn’t know that.”

She laughed. “I think he knows.”
