So even though after he’d freed her from the shirt and he immediately wanted to ask for her name and tell her he was famous and try to impress her in all the usual ways, he’d managed to avoid all of that.

Just barely.

He didn’t think she’d be back the next day.

But then, just like yesterday, she glanced up, her hazel eyes caught his for the barest of seconds and then kept moving. Looking around him, but neverathim again.

It was weird.

He didn’t like it.

But he wasn’t sure he’d be able to explainwhyhe didn’t like it.

“I can come over and help you get your stuff set up,” Shawn offered, heading straight for the espresso maker. He raised a hand, palm out. “Sabine.”

The unknown person smacked the offered hand in return. “Shawn.”

She tugged her coat up around her neck, slung her laptop bag over her shoulder, and was gone.

Even quicker than the day before.

And again, itbotheredhim.

Why did he feel so judged by a veritable stranger?

But he did.

And unfortunately, he wanted to chase after her andexplain…

No.

He didn’t need to explain everything to everyone in the world. Even though he wanted to.

Maybe she was just embarrassed about what had happened the day before.

She didn’t need to be. He had been happy to help. And he’d do it again if given the chance.

“Who was that?” Dave asked, jerking a thumb over his shoulder where she’d disappeared because he still couldn’t help but ask.

“Who?” Shawn glanced around him, as if looking for who he was referring to.

“The woman who just left. Does she work here?” He was fairly certain he’d met the entire staff.

“Oh, Sabine?” Shawn asked, like Dave would know. “She’s Piper’s tutor. Hannah prefers her to meet Piper here. Just to discourage potential stalkers. You know.”

Dave’s lips twitched. He shot Piper a look who was already arching an eyebrow at Shawn’s words.

“Correct me if I’m wrong but—”

“I was not stalking her!” Shawn protested. “I was just—”
