And, fuck, he couldn’t wait to have her mouth against his again, her body writhing in his arms. Her taste on his tongue. Her moans of pleasure in his ears. And finally, he would have her beneath him, wrapped around him.
He would claim her, and she would claim him right back.
Their beginning wasn’t normal—it was ludicrous, really. But what they’d created after that first email was something that he would always cherish. Because it had awoken something inside him that had been asleep in the dark and damp, bringing it to life in the light and heat. All the years before, he’d been going through the motions, fucking and taking, and feeling nothing. One letter from Swan—from Maeve—and it was like he was reborn. Remade. Maeve was the catalyst to the supersonic explosion that had reshaped his life and refocused his future.
He would have her. He would make her his. There was no other option. Fuck letting her go her own way. Forget letting her fade into the shadows again. He refused to allow her—and that bitch Denise—ruin what could be an amazing happily ever after.
Hell. If the boys on the jobsite could hear these thoughts, they’d revoke my man card.
He snickered to himself, his gaze once again on Maeve’s door, trying to peer through it to the woman on the other side.
Today. He would make his move today. He couldn’t wait any longer.
There was something he had to do first, though.
Rapping his knuckles against the doorframe to Blaze’s office, he waited until his friend looked up gave him a chin lift. Heading inside, he closed the door behind him.
Blaze, probably sensing something was up, threw AJ a concerned look, leaning back in his office chair.
“What’s up, man?”
Dragging in a fortifying breath, AJ said, “There’s something I need your help with.”
