He chuckled, grabbing her hand to press a kiss into her palm. “The only thing I will ever need is you.”

“Hmmmm.” She brushed a kiss over his nipple and he tensed. “All you need, huh?”

His breathing stuttered. “Uh huh,” he replied. His hand cupping her left breast, his thumb circling her nipple. It was her turn to tense, her body pulling taut like a bow string.

“So…you don’t need children…or the house and the picket fence?” What the hell was she saying? Were words coming out of her mouth? She couldn’t focus, her mouth was moving on its own, and she didn’t care what was coming out of it.

He thrust up, rolling Maeve over on her back until he was braced over her, his bulging biceps holding his massive body in place over her. She spread her thighs, cradling his naked erection against her wet heat. She raised her hips, curling into him, begging for him. He ground against her, making her cry out.

“You want babies, I’ll plant my seed so far inside you, you’ll be pregnant within the week. You want the picket fence, I’ll draw up the designs tomorrow and build our dream house right up the beach from Sally and Sly. You want the world, baby, and I will wrap it in a bow for you. There is nothing I need more than to give you everything you have ever hoped or dreamed for.”

Overcome at his words, tears slipped from her eyes and down her cheeks.

“God, I love you,” she exclaimed, her throat tight.

His eyes, so intense, so filled with love, so green and bright and glimmering with joy, peered down at her.

“I love you. Forever,” he declared before taking her mouth in a kiss that stole her breath.

Before she lost all ability to think, she pictured them, together, standing in the sunlight, their arms around each other, their hearts beating for one another…far away from the shadows.
