“Careful, sunshine. You might just have admitted that you looked at my ass too if you’re so sure of their grand view. You certainly didn’t come behind me to watch my aim.”

“Really? Like you weren’t looking at my breasts.”

“I have no problem admitting that. The difference is you wanted me to look. You bent lower on purpose to distract me with your cleavage.”

“Maybe.”

Oh, dear. This flirty back-and-forth game was dangerous. What were you think talking about his ass, Lucy?

“Well, kudos to you, Lucille. You succeeded. But you didn’t have to bend too much. Your pointed nipples beneath your shirt were distraction enough. Maybe if you wore a thicker bra, I might have noticed those women you saw. Might even have had the chance to get laid tonight.”

I peered down at my breasts. Sure enough, my nipples were clearly outlined through the thin fabric of my shirt. Impossible not to after that rain shower. “Aren’t you so sure of yourself, Casanova.”

“Sure am. You should thank your tits I hadn’t hooked up with anybody or you’d be sitting in a taxi with some pervy driver who would have proposed to waver your fee if you flash him your wet tits.”

“Who says I wouldn’t have hooked up with someone too?”

“True. The barman was kind of cute, wasn’t he? Kinda fits your type of man.”

I shoot an elbow at his ribs. He just couldn’t resist bringing that pub thing up again, didn’t he?

“Alright, onto a more serious subject. You hungry?” Sam asked.

“Hungry and freezing cold.” I rubbed my hand together to warm myself up. “Would you like some toast? I’m craving some warm cheesy toast and a nice cup of coffee.”

Sam turned on the ignition, then switched on the heater. Being his usual considerate, Sam even adjusted the air vent on the dashboard to be angled at me. “Toast for dinner. Hm, haven’t had that in a long time.”

“Tonight’s the night then. Drive us to my place. I’m cooking.”

“Cooking? You sure got a completely wrong definition for the word.” And once again, he laughed at me as he began steering the car onto the road.

When we arrived at my apartment, the rain had slowed down a bit and since I left my car near Sam’s apartment, my parking spot was free for Sam’s Mercedes. Fortunately this way, we evaded becoming all wet again in the short walk to the front door.

“Holy crap. I cannot get used to your shitty bright walls.” Sam remarked with a squint as I switched on the light inside the apartment.

I couldn’t blame him. The cool white lighting did make the tangerine paint of my corridor pop out tenfold. All the walls of my apartment were colourful and bright. My open plan was painted sunny yellow, my bedroom’s accent colour was coral, the spare bedroom was sky blue and the bathroom was teal. The furnishings were white in all rooms. That was something that Sam liked about my place, along with the enormous kitchen which I barely used.

Sam removed his coat, took the jacket I held in my hands and hung them on the coat hanger. “I’m switching on the fireplace.”

“I’m putting the kettle on,” I announced.

While Sam worked up the fireplace and my favourite small appliance began boiling, I started prepping the slices of sandwich with some butter and a double layer of cheese – mine, triple layered. I love cheese just as much as a mouse.

Sam came up beside me. “Oh my goodness. Look at that. Iridescent knife, blue plate, pink mug. Why does everything in here have to be so damn colourful?”

“Except you. You’re the dullest thing in here.”

Sam looked down at his black and white clothes. “Touche.”

I winked at him playfully as I filled the sandwich toaster with our dinner. “Hey, would you mind the toaster for a bit? I got to take these wet clothes off or my toes will fall off. I promise it’s a quick shower. Just five minutes.”

“And while I’m in the kitchen, I’ll go ahead and switch off the kettle when it boils. Go on, take your time.”

“Um, I’m not sure you know how to operate an electric kettle but it switches off by itself when it boils. See that small red light there–”

“Just go, smartass.”

Laughing my ass off at finally evening the scores, I jogged into my bedroom. I picked a random lounge short and tee from the drawer, grabbed some panties and dashed to the bathroom. Okay maybe I did exceed the five minutes by a minute or two. It was impossible not to when the water cascading down my body was so warm. I didn’t want to stop relishing in that soothing feeling.
