I pulled my fingers out of her panties and sucked them into my mouth. “Mm, so sweet.” Her expression was surprised. “Tonight, at the party, when I touch my lips, I’ll be remembering how you taste and how you look right now, flushed and panting and pressed against me. Thank you for letting me see you.”

She reached for my aching cock. “Ah, no time, baby. We need to get moving.”

She pouted. “What? It’s not even noon.”

“I know, but I’m hungry, and I made an appointment for us with Amanda in a few minutes. I need a new suit.” I shifted away, and Jo frowned in confusion. Standing, I willed my dick to calm the hell down. Today’s mission was Operation Confident Jo. Tonight, was something else.

Waiting for the elevator,I dabbed on a light sheen of lip balm under Lucas’s heavy gaze. The ding broke the trance, and Lucas wrapped his warm hand around mine as we stepped into the space. The doors closed, and he rearranged the bulge in his jeans.

“I can help with that, you know.”

“Oh, yes, I know. I’m trying to be valiant here. Putting your needs first. Willing the blood back into my brain.” He ran his hand through his hair for about the tenth time since he left the bed. His bed. Where he gave me yet another satisfying orgasm with only his hand. His cock was going to kill me.

We swept into Nordstrom and headed toward the men’s department, bright lights glinting off the white marble floors. Even after a quick lunch from one of the sandwich stalls at Pike Place Market, my body still buzzed, and I practically floated at Lucas’s side. Emily told me the lingerie would fry his brain and bring out my inner sex goddess. Best I could tell, she was dead right.

It was a new feeling, this sexy confidence. I never felt this way with anyone before Lucas. I knew how to get my lovers off, and they were usually attentive and complimentary. But Lucas was different. Today, when he said I was perfect, the little voice that told me he was lying was merely a whisper rather than the usual shout. If he ever repeated it, I may not hear that little voice at all.

“Amanda,” Lucas greeted a tall, sleek beauty, probably in her sixties.

“Lucas.” She leaned in for a motherly kiss on the cheek before turning to me. “You must be Jo.” Her eyes were warm and kind.

“Yes. It’s nice to meet you,” I said.

“Lucas told me so much about you, and I have several things waiting for you.” She glanced at Luc. “I pulled a few items from Tom Ford’s spring line. James will get you set up.”

“Thanks, Amanda. You’re the best. Take good care of my girl.”

I stared at him, a question on my face as he stepped away.

“Go with Amanda. Enjoy it. When you’re finished, I’ll meet you right over there.” He pointed to a mahogany bar with a few small tables scattered around. It must have been lit by those jewelry store lights because the bottles all sparkled against the liquid inside them.

I nodded in a trance.

“Don’t worry about a thing, dear. He can be overwhelming.” That pulled me back, and I flashed a smile at Amanda.

“He wanted you to feel your best for the book launch today.” She patted my arm and angled her head, indicating I should follow her.

First was the spa for a shoulder massage and a facial, followed by a steam shower. Shower wasn’t the right word because if the shower in my apartment was a shower, there was no universe in which this experience with six showerheads and swirling steam like a sauna was the same thing.

Snuggled into a warmed, fluffy robe, Amanda guided me into a private dressing area.

“I’ve selected a few dresses for you to choose from with fresh undergarments as well. Lucas described your figure perfectly, and any of these dresses would be a knockout on you.” A nervous laugh escaped my throat. Lucas described my figure.

Amanda patted my arm. “Relax. I’ll be right outside when you’re ready to be zipped.” With that, I was alone.

I glanced at the undies and the delicate lace in a creamy pink shade. I held it to my skin, and it almost looked like it matched. Wow. Turning my back to the three-sided mirror, I undressed then slipped on the panties and strapless bra. They fit like a glove. Amanda was a fairy godmother magician because undies never fit. The ones Emily helped me buy were the first.

The first dress, a floaty chiffon cocktail dress in pale lavender, was so delicate against my skin that I was afraid I would tear it. Next was a flirty red organza with a deep V bodice and flowing skirt reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe. Definitely sexy. And finally, a closely cut black silhouette that was essentially strapless with sheer, polka-dotted fabric gathered over the shoulders. It smacked of 40s pin-up style. I slipped it on and called Amanda to zip me.

“Oh yes, this one is perfect on you. Your figure is striking.” The rich fabric fit like a glove but wasn’t binding. I stared at the form-fitting dress in the mirror, the hourglass shape accentuating my own. I couldn’t believe it. My figurewasstriking. I’d never worn anything like this. The woman in this dress would stand out in a crowd in a good way, which was a new experience for me.

“This was my first pick once Lucas described you. Not every shape can wear this design.”

“There’s no price tag,” I said.
