“Take a picture, Grimm. It’ll last longer,” he says with a smirk, sauntering into the kitchen, ignoring the fact that someone has just knocked on the door.

I rise from the couch, arching an eyebrow. “Everything lasts longer than you—”

“Winter,” he warns through his teeth, not letting me finish my sentence.

Even though he fully redeemed himself last night, I can’t possibly let this go so easily. Aleck is far too cocky for me not to revel in knocking him down a peg or two. Or three. Even if I have to ignore the amount of world-shattering orgasms he gave me to do it.

I laugh, making my way to the suite door. When I open it, I’m blasted in the face with the sex appeal of one of the most handsome men I have ever seen. Even standing next to Aleck, and that’s saying alotconsidering Aleck is a two thousand out of ten.

“Whoa,” the mysterious stranger greets me. His televangelist smile showing every tooth in his mouth back to his molars. “Am I at the right door?” His eyes drop from mine to my chest, then travel the rest of my body.

Suddenly I feel a little too observed and slightly offended. Even if he ishot.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” Aleck grits from the island, walking our way.

A devilish smile curls the lips of the beautiful stranger. “Aren’t you going to invite me in, little brother?”

Little brother? This man is Aleck’s brother, Hayden Fox. Makes perfect sense. The man looks like he’s got more money than Oprah.

“First admit that you fucked with my email or I’ll beat your ass in this hallway,” Aleck grits.

Aleck steps in front of me like I don’t exist, showing me his tensing back muscles as his eyes leer at Hayden. I step back, meandering to the island, but keep my eyes on the Fox brothers.

Hayden shrugs. “First admit that it pissed you off.”

Aleck takes a step toward his brother, but it only appears to further amuse him.

Aleck told me Hayden terrorized him terribly when he was moved into the Fox’s home. He made Aleck believe everything he did would get him sent back to the children’s home he lived in for seven hellish months after his parents died, before Richard and Mildred Fox adopted him.

He didn’t go intomuchdetail, but he told me enough for me to know he suffered before becoming a Fox. Then, because of Hayden, sufferedafterbecoming a Fox, too.

“You’ve got five seconds to admit it, or I’m breaking half your ribs.” The pissed off ten-year-old he told me about, clear in his tone. “One…”

“All you had to do was answer your phone—”

“Two,” Aleck continues.

Watching the edge of Aleck’s usually controlled nature fray and unravel at the seams makes my gut sink with sadness for him.

“Mr. All Important doesn’t have to pick up the phone for his own brother, then gets mad when—”

“Three!” Aleck’s bravado intensifies. “You’re fucked if I get to five. Four!”

“Yeah, okay. I had Jeremy Brenan redirect your emails for a while,” Hayden finally says with a Cheshire smile.

You can do that?I guess you can doanythingwith enough money.

“You’re a dumbass.” Aleck turns around, calmer, but on edge enough to scare a wildcat.

I pick up my Kindle, trying to appear like I’mnothanging onto every word they’re saying. Failing miserably at it, considering I can’t take my eyes off them.

Aleck walks to the counter opposite me and leans his hip against it, leering at Hayden. “I have a job to do, Hayden. You may not give a shit about the firm, but I do. You shut down my email, you stand between me and my job, mycareer. You’re only putting the firm in jeopardy. Do you have any idea how much Iactuallyjuggle from day to day?”

Hayden walks into the suite, making our space feel a little less warm, and closes the door behind him with a smirk.

“I just think it’s funny how you act like nothing gets to you but—”

“So you keep fucking with me until, what? Until Ikillyou?”
