Dipping his head down, Aleck swipes his tongue across my lips. I open my mouth, melting my tongue into his, pulling him into a kiss. He growls into my mouth and grabs my thigh, his fingers digging into my skin until I’m sure they’ll bruise. He hoists my leg up to his hip, driving his hips forward as he picks up his pace.

The sound of his skin slapping against mine echoes into the four corners of the room as he fucks me with passion, angst, and force.

What will I do when our time comes to an end? How will I find in other men what I’ve found in him? The passion, the attraction, the intensity, even our damn fights excite me.

Aleck snakes his arm under my back and pulls me closer as he fills me with long, deep powerful strokes. My vision starts to blur as an ache inches from my center outward into the rest of my body like warm honey. I moan loudly, making Aleck tighten his grip.

His lips pull from mine, then he drags his mouth to my ear, his hot breath tickling my senses, making me shiver as he speaks. “Are you going to come undone for me, Winter?”

I nod, lifting my hips from the bed, meeting Aleck thrust for thrust, chasing the release I know he’s about to deliver.

His hand leaves my thigh and settles between us. His thumb slips over my swollen clit, rubbing circles over it while burying himself deep inside me.

“Come all over my cock, beautiful girl.”

Like he’s a goddamn wizard and his words are a spell, I come on cue like he’s told me to. The room darkens. I scream as the force of my orgasms hits me, cracking my composure as if I’ve been struck by lightning. I sink my teeth into Aleck’s shoulder, making him grab the headboard with a growl and plunge his hips forward, succumbing to his own release.

He pumps into me, slowing his pace to a stop, then drops his head to my shoulder and relaxes his body on top of mine while we pant into each other. I wrap my arms around his shoulders with my sated smile pressed into his neck.

Placing kisses from Aleck’s neck up to his ear, I whisper, “I’m sorry I bit you.”

I feel his lips smile against my skin, then he rolls off me, lying flat on his back. “I liked it. Couldn’t you tell?”

I roll over to face him, curling up against his side. He snakes his arm around my shoulder and pulls me into his body. The warmth and charged energy between us as intense as the smell of sex in the room.

“I think I left a mark…” I lift my hand and rub my thumb across the faint teeth marks I’ve left on his shoulder.

He gently grabs my hand, then skates it down his chest, resting it over his heart. “Not as deep as the mark you left here.”

Butterflies take flight in my stomach and travel the length of my body down to my toes. My lips part… That was the most intimate thing he’s ever—

Wait a minute. Why does that sound so familiar?

“You dumbass!” I smack his chest, making his laugh fill the room. “Did you read my book?”

“A little.” His laugh becomes a chuckle. “It’ssobad, Winter.”

“No, it’s not. It’s sweet, and romantic—”

“Seriously? They do anal on their first date. In the back of his truck!” His grin lighting the room, he turns on his side to face me. “Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against anal, but it’s a privilege. Something you earn. Not really first date material.”

I laugh, threading my fingers through his hair. “Maybe so… How much of it did you read?”

Aleck sits up to grab the blankets at our feet, then lays back, pulling them over us. He scoots closer, drawing me into his body by the small of my back. “I read to where Trysten, stupid name by the way, thinks Maribelle is cheating on him with Chase.”

I gasp, trailing my fingers up his bicep to his neck. “You stopped right before he told her he loves her for the first time.”

Aleck nuzzles the tip of his nose against mine. “He’s a douche. He should have told her when they went to the Falls. It was the perfect time, but he couldn’t pull his head out of his ass long enough to decide what he wanted.”

I laugh, reelingbecause Aleck and I are having a legitimate conversation about what two fictitious characters in my smutty romance novel did and should have done with each other. The boyish grin on Aleck’s face tells me he enjoyed reading my book. Whether or not he makes fun of it.

“And when did you find the time to read so much of it unnoticed?”

“When you were sleeping a couple of nights ago. Before I went back to my room.”

The air buzzes around us with the things we’re not saying. He left me after he slept with me, shared stories with me, confided in me, and went back to his room so he could sleep alone. Which, knowing him, isn’t an insult, it’s just the way he is. The way he’s always been, I suppose. But now I know he stayed a while. Alongwhile considering he read three-fourths of my almost four-hundred-page novel.

“Should we go back downstairs?” I ask.
