Honking interrupts the awkwardness and Chelsea jumps. “Oh, thank god, that twit said another half hour. What a liar. Any who, later, or not. I don’t do repeats. And Keller, I really hope your dick falls off. Toodles,” she says and saunters out.

“God, I hate that I hurt her, Cori and Melissa have both nagged Chelsea for years to just be done with me, and now that she is, she treats me like I'm fuckin’ scum,” he says quietly, watching her drive off with a sad look on his face.

“Maybe you should take the Chelsea mess and learn from it huh? What do you think will happen once Tara finds out about your shit?” I ask, raising my brows.

“Whatever man. I won’t give up Grade A prime pussy.” I knew I shouldn’t have said shit. He may have felt bad just now for shit with Chelsea, but he goes right back into dick mode. “Wait, Chelsea was here, did you fuck her?” he shouts at me.

“Yeah, I did,” I shrug, “Not like you ever introduced us when you were dating her. Hell, I didn’t know her name until you said it when you came in. Can’t exactly be pissed at me about that shit.”

His shoulders sag and he looks defeated as he rubs a hand over his face. “Yeah, whatever.”

“Well, what did you want to ask?” I ask him, wanting to move off the topic of Chelsea.

“Oh yeah. Okay, Tara is being evicted, the place she’s at is selling so she’s needing a new place.”

I frown. “Uh okay, what does that have to do with me?”

He shakes his head. “I asked her to move in with me, she said no. I don’t get these bitches. Don’t most girls want to move in with a guy?”

“Okay really, what’s the point of this shit, man?”

“Can she move in here? Have her own room? Pay rent? She won’t actually move in with me, but when I mentioned she’d have her own room and a roommate living type thing, she relented a bit.”

I bust out laughing. “No.”

“Man, seriously, I know you won’t charge her out the ass, it’s a good neighborhood and she’s close to work,” he says, pleading with me.

If he knew that I had hooked up with Tara before he did, he sure as fuck wouldn’t be asking this of me.

“Come on man, you have two extra bedrooms, it’d be a little extra cash for you, and she’s a great cook,” he tells me, knowing that food is something that usually gets me to say yes.

“Yeah, but we’d also probably kill each other within the first week. Plus, won’t that sort of, I don’t know, put a damper on your other women,” I point out.

He rolls his eyes. “You know I don’t bring those bitches back here.”

“When do you need an answer by?” I say, giving in.

“ASAP, she’s got until the end of the month, which means she needs to start looking right now.”

Why the hell not. “Fine. Three hundred a month, everything included, but she cooks every night.” I know I’m going to live to regret this. Keller pays for all the food in the place, so having a cook, since we’re both shit at that, would be awesome.

“Thanks man, I knew I could count on you,” he says with a grin. “Later, gotta get back to her, let her know.”

I shake my head when he leaves. Why the fuck did I agree to this. I already have to see her every damn day at work. Now I’m going to be hearing her familiar moans of passion. I’m a fucking moron.

Chapter 5

Tara

I’m about to wash my dishes from breakfast when Keller burst I through my front door. “Hey?”

“Good news,” he tells me, smiling. “Drew said yes. Three hundred a month, you are in charge of groceries and cooking. Hell, since you guys work together, maybe you could even save on gas and ride with him.”

I shake my head. What the hell is Drew thinking? I was positive he’d say no, but now I have to actually do it. “It all sounds great, but no, no carpooling. That may be my only time away from that jerk.” We already fight constantly at work over every little thing. Half the precinct actually takes bets every day to see what we’ll argue over that day.

“Whatever,” Keller mutters. “The point is, you can pack up and leave this dump now. Come on, I’ll help.”

I start rubbing my temples, hoping the stress of Keller’s words doesn’t cause a migraine. “Keller, look, I still have a few weeks left here, no point in me moving now.” I really don’t even want to move in with Keller or Drew. And when he came back to let me know, I was gonna turn him down. But when I heard the price and cooking. Bam, sold. Yes please. I couldn’t get that anywhere, ever. Keller is away a lot with his team, and I know I can easily avoid Drew by just going to my room.
