“Brayleigh.” Tuck lets out a sigh into the phone in what I’m guessing is agitation. “What can I do for you?”

“I just wanted to call you and talk for a minute about what’s going on.” I pause, trying to find my words. “You know, with the group dating and polyandry stuff.”

“Go on.”

“Right,” I mumble, my voice shaking with nerves. “Well, I just wanted you to know that I don’t want you to feel pressured into this. I feel like your brothers are pushing you and I don’t agree with that. Of course, I would love to date you as well but not if you don’t want to. God knows I have more boyfriends than most people. Can I call them boyfriends? Oh hell, I have no idea.”

“You’re rambling Bray,” Tuck speaks finally, cutting me off with an irritated voice. “No one can pressure me into anything. I’ll go to the bar with you guys because I love my brothers and yeah, it would be good to catch up I guess. I don’t want any part of this fucked up circle fuck though. You guys can group fuck to your hearts’ content but I’m out.”

“Y-yeah. Of course,” I stutter out a response. My lip quivers as his words make me want to cry. “I’m glad we got that all worked out. I’ll talk to you next weekend then.”

“Bray,” Tuck’s voice comes through before I can hang up. “Wait.”

“What’s up? Do you need something else?”

“Ah, no. I’ll see you next weekend. Bye”

With that Tuck hangs up the phone, not waiting for my goodbye. Sitting on the edge of my bed, I let the tears fall. I know this whole thing is crazy and no doubt people are going to talk about me especially. I need to thicken my skin to these kinds of comments, for my heart as much as my sanity. The problem is hearing it from one of the guys that I want in this messed up relationship hurts more than I had anticipated. I can hear the names from the other people in town; slut, whore, unfaithful, etc. There’s a difference between knowing that the names are circling and hearing comments that imply that’s what I am.

After I have a little cry session, I stop my stupid pity party and get ready for my date tonight. Screw the pity party, I have a group of beautiful, sexy and smart men that want me and I don’t need the negativity that comes along with that. I know who I am, they know who I am, so screw the rest of them. Including Tuck, since he seems to feel the same way. I won’t lie to myself and say I don’t miss him or that our group doesn’t feel different without him, but I need to put him on the back burner of my mind.

Tonight Mason is taking me out for mini golf and I’m so excited. I don’t know what to wear for mini golf! Do I pull out my basic shorts and a cute shirt? Do I go with a cute summer dress and hope the wind doesn’t give him a show? When I’m riding it has to be pants or shorts at minimum, but living in the city I’ve found I’m much more of a skirt or dress kind of girl. I just really don’t need any peep shows in the family setting of mini golf.

You know what? Dress it is. I have a beautiful white one with pink lilies on it that I have been dying to wear out, so that’s what I’m going to do. I pull on my lacy nude bra and panties so no colour pops through the white. My makeup is very light and neutral with browns and a touch of pink on my lips. The hair is going up tonight, this humidity has been doing a number on my curls lately. I don’t need to look like Mrs. Frizzle on my date, that’s definitely not my best look.

Looking in my tall mirror, I don’t think I look half bad. Hopefully Mason feels the same way, I really don’t want to screw this up with him. The time on my phone is telling me I have less than five minutes until he should be here. Shaking out my hands, I try to calm the butterflies in my stomach. Tonight is date three with one of my Wilds, the other two were amazing and I imagine that tonight will be just as amazing. I have no idea if it will end the same sexy way as the first or sweet and polite like the second, it really doesn’t matter because both were perfect.

“Brayleigh! Mason Wild is here for you!” Mom yells from the kitchen, probably sneaking peeks through the window like she always does.

“Coming!” I holler back.

This is it. Date night. Tomorrow I have another one with Colton, but tonight I’m all Mason’s. Let’s go! Grabbing my small white purse and my phone, I make my way to the front door. I get there just in time to hear Mason’s first knock. Opening the door, I gasp at the huge bouquet he has in his hand. I almost can’t see Mace behind the array of lilies, tulips, daffodils, and a little bit of baby’s breath scattered throughout. It’s the most stunning combination of flowers I’ve ever seen.

“Oh, wow. They’re beautiful, Mason.” I reach forward, taking them from his hand to finally see the gorgeous smile on his face. Putting them under my nose, I breathe deeply and sigh at the amazing smell. “Thank you so much.”

“You’re welcome,” Mason drawls with a huge smile. “But their beauty has nothing on you, pretty girl.”

Blushing, I hide my face behind the bouquet for a moment. Putting my hand up, I gesture to Mace that I’ll be a moment as I bring the flowers to the kitchen for a vase. Mom intercepts me when I get there, gushing over what a catch Mason is to have brought this bouquet. She takes the flowers, pushing me back towards the door to not keep him waiting.

Mason is still waiting inside the door, patient as ever. He takes my hand, pulling me outside with him towards his SUV. When we pull off onto the road, we’re both quiet for a bit. The radio is playing some country music softly through the speakers, the beginning ofRed Dirt Roadby Brooks & Dunn starting. This song always makes me so nostalgic for our childhood. It was one of my dad’s favourite songs when I was growing up. I never understood at the time how a road could bring back so many memories, but now I see it. It’s about more than the road, it’s about triggering the memories that mean so much to us from a time when things were so much simpler. This whole town has turned into a red dirt road of memories for me.

“Do you remember when we went swimming in the pond by Old Man Williams place? You told us not to do it but Grayson insisted it was fine,” I reminisce with a small smile.

“I remember,” Mason says with a laugh. “I was right too! We all ended up with poison ivy afterwards. My ass itched for days!”

Laughing out loud, my shoulders shake as I remember young Mason scooting around his house on his ass. His mom just shook her head and told them all to figure it out. My mom rubbed lotion all over me and I was grounded for three days from the guys when she found out. It was a lot of fun at the time, still the recovery was awful. We never did go back to that pond. We also started listening to Mason a lot more instead of the mischievous Grayson. Those guys are like fire and ice when it comes to their personalities.

“Ready for some mini golf, pretty girl?” Mason asks as he parks.

“I’m ready to kick your butt at some mini golf,” I tease. Mason scoffs jokingly as I stick my tongue out at him.

“We’ll see about that. Don’t expect me to go easy on you just because you look so good. I play to win.”

“Got it. I don’t need you to go easy,” I say with a wink. “I can take whatever you throw at me.”

Groaning, Mason jumps out of the SUV to come over and open my door for me. I giggle to myself as I see him try to discreetly adjust his nether region. Maybe that was a little forward, I’m enjoying his reaction immensely though. It feels good to affect someone as put together as Mason Wild like that. Mason is beautiful in an almost untouchable way. He looks almost identical to his twin with his mussed brown hair and beautiful grey eyes that always have a way of looking hooded. The differences mostly come in the way they carry themselves. Grayson always looks like he could care less what happens at any moment while Mason looks more cautious and reserved.

Mace opens my door, holding out a hand to help me out with a shy smile on his face. I return his smile, taking his hand to hop out but not letting go when my feet hit the ground. Mason’s smile grows, lighting up his face and taking away some of the ever present worry that shows on his face. He entwines our fingers together, stepping closer as he does to brush his lips against my cheek. Looking up through my lashes, I blush at the sexy, loving look in his eyes. He leans in to whisper in my ear, his breath sending shivers down my spine in a toe curling way.
