I scream out your name

Searching everywhere to save you

Except there's no one left here

Only the same memories I'm used to

I realize I can't save you

I couldn’t even save myself

I'm no good for anyone

I've expired on the shelf

This is it, my final plea

Please save her, there’s no hope for me

My time has come, my light dying at last

My life is already gone, it’s lost to the past

Save the girl from her own mind

Save the girl that’s forever blind

To the perfection she holds within herself

Save the girl from the uncertainty

Save the girl, please save her for me

Save the girl that stole my heart

Save the girl that's torn apart

Her pieces are perfectly imperfect

Her life meant for so much more

Save the girl, set her free

Save the girl, please save her for me

Declan, you son of a bitch! You knew what was going to happen when you wrote this fucking song. You fucking knew that you would take yourself from this world. A scream is sitting in my chest just waiting to burst out of me. There’s a million questions racing through my mind at warp speed, yet most of them will probably never have answers because Declan fucking left me. He left me and he knew he was doing it.

The minister closes the service, but all I hear is the intensity of my breathing and the myriad of questions racing through my head. Vaguely, I can make out that people are starting to move around me, their voices just white noise to me. There’s strong hands on my shoulders and that same scent of sandalwood surrounding me. Someone touches my back while Rhys grabs my face to get me to look at him.

His image is blurry with the tears that are streaming down my face, my breathing erratic and uneven as I struggle to pull air into my lungs. Black spots move into my vision as my panic attack hits it’s crescendo. My eyes are blinking unevenly, their movements slow and sticky.

One moment Rhys is in front of me and the next I’m laying down on the bench with him kneeling beside me. Someone’s thighs are under my head, their warmth calming me slowly. My eyes close again, my strength waning as my body relearns how to breathe again. Gradually, the noises around me start turning from white noise to actual understandable sounds.

“Alayna,” Rhys’ voice is even, yet there’s a touch of hysteria hidden underneath like he’s trying not to show any of his panic. “Alayna, we need you to open those pretty eyes for us. If you don’t, baby, we’ll have to get an ambulance. Please, open your eyes for us.”

“B—” I attempt to speak even though I’m exhausted beyond reason. “D— did you just c-call me, b-baby?”

A laugh rumbles above me from Mr. Thighs, the sound feels like a balm on my soul. Opening my eyes like a newborn animal, I blink a few times to make sure they’re working right. It seems the warm comfortable thighs belong to none other than Asshole Adam. Turning my head, my eyes land on a very relieved Rhys and Riggs who are both kneeling beside me like I’m on an altar to be worshipped.
