I look at Maz. “Thoughts?”

“Eh,” Maz says.

“Ouch,” I say. “Sorry, dude. You lose. Now fuck off.”

I push him away.

Maz and I start to giggle.

I kind of feel bad about that.

But I kind of don’t.

I’ve never had a sense of power in my life.

I’m also a little drunk right now.

Cullen is out back with some of theHeirsand his brother. They’re all talking.

Probably mafia shit.

As far as Archer goes, I haven’t seen him since we kissed, but I have a feeling he’s still here. I have a feeling he’s staring right at me.

It’s so scary yet it’s so hot at the same time.

“Jaci,” Maz says.

“What?”

“As I was saying…”

“Oh, right,” I say. “You’re trying to tell me not to enjoy myself.”

“I didn’t say that at all, Jaci. I’m trying to explain how serous this is. If Cullen and Archer really got into it. I’m talking like… fists or weapons or someone getting hurt…”

“I know,” I say. “Their families would get involved.”

“It’s more than that,” Maz says. “There are certain rules. Old rules. Unwritten rules. Rules that are passed on with each generation. And each generation wants to change those rules, right up until there’s a bloody war and they realize what those rules are in place for. And you know none of this is above the table, right?”

“I know that, Maz. I get it. I’ve seen movies.”

“Screw the movies.”

“I’m just having fun,” I say.

“I know you are. I’m happy you are. I just want you to really think about things. Especially when you’re looking at those mafia guys when they’re naked.”

I throw my head back and groan. “So good.”

“I bet.”

“I mean, technically I haven’t seen them naked,” I said. “I’ve… touched… Cullen…”

“And Archer?”

I feel myself starting to blush.

“Damn you, Jaci,” Maz says.
