I look and it’s Maz.

There’s a part of me that doesn’t want to leave right now.

But I kind of get the idea I need to.

So, I take off with Maz and Birdie.

As I hurry through the front door of the house, I look back and Cullen is gone.

But Archer is still there.

Staring.

“What the fuck is going on?” I cry out as Maz and Birdie pull me down the stone steps.

“Birdie was right about coming here,” Maz says. “This was a bad idea. I didn’t realize just how bad.”

“What was going to happen there?” I ask.

“Something… bad,” Birdie says.

A few seconds later we’re hurrying into a golf cart.

Maz takes the wheel.

Birdie and I sit on the back.

As Maz speeds off, I look to theSentralhouse.

Birdie puts her hand to mine and lets out a sigh.

I look at her.

She nods.

“What?” I ask.

“I think I should explain to you who Archer really is.”

Chapter 8

Isit like we’re about to summon some witches.

Maz and Birdie are across from me.

We’re in Maz’s big bedroom, sitting on the floor.

The only real light in the room is coming from out in the living room area.

Or when one of their phones light up with texts.

I’m still far from settled.

I’m still far from just accepting everything.

But I’ve got no choice.

I’m tired and I need sleep.
