“Archer broke the guitar,” I say.

“What?”

“I was playing at one of the pavilions and he showed up,” I say. “He stepped on it. He destroyed it. I had to throw out. I’m sorry, Cullen. I’ll pay you back for it. I don’t have any-”

Cullen touches my face. “You owe me nothing, love. That was a gift. I’ll replace it.”

“No.”

“Yes. You like playing guitar. You should play guitar. As far as Amatti goes…”

Anger flashes in his eyes.

I swallow hard.

“Cullen Doyle, what are you doing here?” a voice asks.

There’s a girl at the door.

“Fern,” Maz says. “We’re kind of busy here.”

“I can see that,” Fern says, raising her eyebrows at me as Cullen’s hands are still touching my face.

I reach up and pull Cullen’s hand away from my face.

Last thing I need are rumors about Cullen and me floating aroundDSC.

“Sorry to bother you all,” Fern says. “Just wanted to know if you heard about the fires.”

“What fires?” Cullen asks.

Fern’s eyes light up.

I can instantly tell she loves gossip.

“Ava Thomas’s and Brianna McNightley’s cars were set on fire!” Fern says with excitement.

“Oh, shit,” Maz says.

“I wonder who they pissed off now,” Birdie says.

I look down at my feet.

I didn’t tell anyone about Ava and Brianna being with Darby and Rowe when Archer showed up.

That makes me wonder about one thing…

Did Archer set their cars on fire?

Better yet…

Did Archer do something nice for me?

Chapter 18

So here’s the quick update.

Cullen did bring me another guitar.
