Quinn Doyle struts over.

“Sorry to you two lovebirds,” he says. “Need to talk to you, Cullen.”

“Can it wait?” Cullen asks.

“Nope.”

“Let me say that again,” Cullen says. “Fuck off, little brother.”

“Trust me,” Quinn says, “I don’t want to get between twoHeirsabout fuck, but I have to talk to you about our littlest brother.”

Cullen stands up in a hurry. “Moore?”

Quinn nods.

Cullen glances down at me. “Moore isn’t quite ready forDSCyet. But he’s got an attitude and always finds trouble.”

“Fucking family?” I ask.

“Fucking family,” Cullen says. He looks around. “I don’t want to leave you, love.”

“I’m fine,” I say. “I was fine the last time, right?”

“Right,” Cullen says.

“I don’t want to get pushy here,” Quinn says. “But time is not working with us right now.”

“I get the fucking point, Quinn,” Cullen snaps.

“Cool,” Quinn says. “That’s all I need to hear, I guess. I’ll be waiting over there…”

Quinn nods and struts off.

“I’ll have someone else come sit with you,” Cullen says.

Now I jump up. “The hell you will.”

“Jaci.”

“Fuck off, Cullen,” I say. “I don’t need a babysitter. I can handle myself. Trust me.”

Cullen curls his lip.

“What?” I ask. “I’m anHeir. Right? I’m some kind of evil royalty or something, right? I’m going to have a couple more drinks and laugh with Maz and Birdie. Then we’re going back to the dorm. It’s not that big of a deal, Cullen. Plus, you’re the one ditching me.”

“Do you want to come with me then?” Cullen offers. “See what I have to deal with?”

“You’re bailing your little brother out of trouble,” I say. “It’s not like you’re going to kill someone.”

Cullen grabs my hips and pulls me close. “How do you know?”

The one second aggression ends with a kiss to my cheek and Cullen walks off to meet with Quinn.

They vanish into the night.

Instead of going to find Maz and Birdie, I wander off on my own.

I need a second to think.
