“I’ll sleep in Maz’s bed,” Birdie announces.

“The fuck you will,” Maz says. “You get the floor.”

I look back at Maz and Birdie.

They’re going to leave me alone with Archer? After everything I said? After everything I know about him?

That’s exactly what they do.

They vanish in seconds, leaving Archer and me alone.

Archer steps forward, forcing me back.

Allowing himself into the room.

He shuts the door behind him and locks it.

“I can call Cullen,” I say. “I can text him. I can sleep in my room atMakson Ridge.”

“You can, sweet thing, but you won’t,” Archer says. “Not with me here.”

He slides his hand into mine and leads the way to my bedroom.

“Archer, I know you heard everything…”

He ignores me.

That makes him even scarier in my book.

Not that I have a book.

I have a collection of thoughts. And fantasies.

Archer closing my bedroom door behind him is one of those fantasies.

“Are you comfortable?” Archer asks.

“What?”

“Is that what you’re going to wear to sleep?”

“I don’t care what I’m wearing,” I say.

Now thezazahas taken full effect.

I’m loose, calm, and tired.

My thoughts are racing but they’re at the back of my head.

It’s just Archer and me.

I sit down on my bed.

He walks toward me and I look up at him.

“You care about him,” Archer says. “You worry about him. He means more than you want to admit to yourself.”

“I feel the same way about you,” I confess. “And Cullen. Yet only one of you wants me dead.”
