If they hold hands and say a prayer in front of a large, perfectly roasted turkey.

If they gather around a large Christmas tree and exchange gifts with the dull echo of classic Christmas songs in the background.

I think about all the holidays for me growing up.

Never any turkey.

Rarely any presents.

In fact, Faye worked every holiday.

Believe it or not, a lot of people went to strip clubs on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Especially Christmas.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for sure.

Faye would dress up in some slutty Santa costume or like a candy cane.

She’d make a ton of money.

If things wereokay, we’d go shopping the day after Christmas and cash in on some post-Christmas sales and discounts.

Then we’d go to a restaurant and not worry about the prices on the menu.

That was almost my version of the holidays.

It’s crazy how fast all those memories come back to me.

They hit so hard, I feel my chest tighten.

I suddenly crave azazato chase away this feeling.

I walk faster.

Now I want Cullen and Archer.

I need them both.

I walk across the quiet campus.

I’m slowly getting out of breath.

I need a ride.

I’m anHeir.

It’s not supposed to be hard to find a ride.

I see someone driving a golf cart and I wave them down.

They stop and stare.

“Do you know who I am?” I ask.

“Yes,” the guy says.

“You’re going to give me a ride, correct?”
