I need to know what Seth secretly knows.

Chapter 58

“Who are you, Seth?” I ask.

“I’m Seth Vossenax,” Seth says. “You know that. You know me.”

“I don’t know what I know,” I say.

“Jaci, come back here,” Cullen says.

Seth’s eyes look beyond me.

I turn and see Cullen and Archer moving closer to me.

Seth lifts the gun and points it at me again.

“Sorry,” Seth says. “It’s the only way to control them.”

“I hate you,” I say to Seth.

“No, you don’t.” He sticks his fingers into his mouth and whistles. “Now I have to do this.”

There are noises above my head.

People are walking down the stairs.

I look at Faye.

She looks guilty.

Next thing I know there are two big guys dressed in leather, each holding a gun, looking at Cullen and Archer.

Archer turns and is ready to attack. Knife in hand.

Cullen touches Archer and whispers something to him.

Whatever it is, it relaxes Archer a little.

“My friends are going to keep an eye on these two,” Seth says to me. “You and me, Jaci, are going to go into the kitchen and talk alone.”

Both Cullen and Archer look back at me.

“I’m going to kill you,” Cullen says to Seth.

“Just relax,” Seth says. “Stop trying to be so tough.”

“Says the guy with the help and guns, huh?” Archer asks.

“Just keeping things fair,” Seth says. “You two had no problem sending me out to kill someone on my own, right? You two stood there, sat there, thought you were the best. Huh?”

Seth throws his left arm around me and walks me into the kitchen.

“I hate this gun shit,” he says. “I really do.”

“Then put it down,” I say. “Prove to me you’re not a fucking asshole.”

“Oh, I’m a fucking asshole,” Seth says. “But I’m smart. I’m not going to kill them. I’m not going to hurt them. Same for you, Jaci. I have no desire to do that.”
