Istand in my room and look around.
I feel like I can cry.
It seems so silly though.
It’s not like I actually spent a ton of time in this room.
I prefer to stay with Maz and Birdie and the rest of theThorns.
But this room is home right now.
Cullen has the lights plugged in for me too.
All the strands of orange lights are lit up, their soft,Halloween glowthat makes me smile.
“I was fucking terrified, Jaci,” Cullen says from behind me.
I nod.
“You don’t get it,” he says. “You don’t get how close you are to everything.”
“Maybe you should tell me then,” I say. “Give me some idea. Give me a hint, Cullen. Because the last person I ever expected to see was Seth.”
“I know, Jaci,” Cullen says. “You will know everything eventually.”
“I fucking hate that word.”
“I know you do. Were you scared?”
“Of course I was scared,” I say.
“Even though it was Seth?”
“Why does that matter, Cullen?”
“Everything he said. Is it true? About you and him?”
