I need to get to Seth as fast as possible.
To my surprise, I see Laz driving a golf cart toward me.
His eyes are big.
Shocked? Pissed off?
Probably a combination of both.
“Just go,” Maz says to me. “Jump in and go. Text us later.”
“Be careful, Jaci,” Birdie says.
Laz turns the golf cart toward me and doesn’t stop moving.
He waves for me to jump on.
So that’s what I do.
It’s like some fucking action movie.
I launch myself at the golf cart, then manage to grab on and sit down as Laz turns us around.
“I wish these things went fucking faster!” Laz roars.
“Laz, what the hell is going on?” I ask.
“Your boyfriend is insane,” he growls.
“Boyfriend? I don’t have a boyfriend.”
Laz looks at me. “Sorry. Your kidnapper. He’s lost his fucking mind.”
“He has a knife to Quinn’s throat?” I ask.
“That’s right,” Laz says.
“Why? How?”
“Jaci, promise me you can save this situation.”
“How can I make that promise?”
“Just say it so I can take a deep fucking breath here,” Laz says.
“I can save this situation,” I say.
Laz exhales. “Okay. So here’s what I know. Quinn stopped over. Not sure why. Probably some Doyle family business shit or whatever. Archer came back to the house after taking you to theThorns. This whole thing is fucked up, Jaci. You’ve got some hearts and dicks twisted in knots.”
“I don’t get it,” I say. “It’s not like my vagina tastes like beer.”
Laz laughs. “I needed that laugh. Thanks. So, anyway, Seth shows up and I don’t know what’s said, but he pulls out a knife and goes after Quinn. Archer just watched and that pissed Cullen off. Cullen and Archer started yelling at each other. Seth yells louder. Quinn is pissed because of the knife against his neck. I took off right away to come find you.”
“So that’s literally all you know then,” I say.
“That’s it, Jaci. Sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry, Laz. I should be sorry. I’m the one causing all this to happen.”
