I need to come up with a plan for myself.
I need to find a way to manage all the insanity that makes up my life right now.
I start to walk and I see both Maz and Birdie hurrying toward me.
“You can’t believe the day I’m having,” I say to them. “Like… can it get any worse?”
Both Maz and Birdie cringe at the same time.
I groan.
“What now?” I ask.
They look at each other.
“Just tell her,” Birdie says.
“Tell me what?” I ask.
Maz sighs.“Seth… currently has a knife to Quinn Doyle’s throat…”
Chapter 19
Ican’t comprehend the words.
I grab for Maz and Birdie and just stare at them.
I’m waiting for one of them to repeat the words.
They just look at me, waiting for me to throw up or pass out.
“Say… it… again,” I manage to say.
“You heard Maz,” Birdie says. “Seth is out of his mind. And I’m really turned on by it.”
“Not now, Birdie,” Maz says. “Listen, Jaci, you need to get over and help out.”
“Over where?”
“Makson Ridge,” Birdie says.
“Then… how…”
“Just get up there and try to talk some sense into him,” Maz says. “Before someone gets killed!”

As far as I’m concerned Seth is already dead.
He’s on borrowed time. Somehow.
But right now? Putting a knife to Cullen’s brother’s throat?
I start to run.
I’m not a good runner and I’m not exactly in any kind of shape to be running.
We need another golf cart.
