“You’ll never be aSavage,” Cullen says. “It doesn’t work the way you think.”

“We know who we all are,” Seth says. “There’s always an exception to whatever bullshit rules you think exist.”

“You don’t belong here,” Archer says.

“That’s where you’re wrong,” Seth says. “I’m right where I’m supposed to be.”

Seth walks closer to me.

Which puts him closer to Cullen and Archer.

My body and heart are screamingyeswith orgasmic echoes throughout my body.

“We should all go inside and figure this out,” I say.

“Makson Ridgeis a sacred place,” Cullen says.

“Fuck off, Doyle,” Archer says. “I’ve been in there plenty of times.”

“I’m sure this is about me,” Seth says. “Some street scum outlaw stepping into the fancy foyer of this house. Right?”

“We are not going to stand outside and do this,” I say. “Someone could hear us.”

“We’re far from everyone, love,” Cullen says.

“Never far enough,” Archer says.

“I’ve already been inside the house,” Seth reminds Cullen. “Should I just speak out loud what we-”

“Let me get the door,” Cullen says with his lip curled.

It’s kind of impressive whatever Seth has over Cullen and Archer.

At the same time, I’m starting to understand more about this life.

Where I grew up - and where Seth grew up - everyone just attacked. Everyone fought. There wasn’t a second to spare.

But the mafia is different.

Cullen and Archer have patience.

They see themselves three, four, five moves from now.

And while I don’t know everything that’s going on, I know one move both Cullen and Archer have in common.

They both want to kill Seth as soon as possible.

“Ikind of like it here,” Seth says, looking around.

“I’ll be back in a second,” Cullen says. “I need to let everyone know what’s happening.”

“I’ll just stand here and wait,” Seth says.

I glance over my shoulder and Archer is near the door, his arms folded.

He’s not impressed by the luxury of the house.

Even though he’s supposed to be living here.
