“Well, believe it or not, it’s the truth. So, I stayed there, she helped me, because remember, I didn’t feel very well…”

“Are you pregnant!?” Bella’s eyes were almost poking out of her sockets.

“What!?” Eva gave her the evil eye. “No! And, stop interrupting me if you want to hear the whole story! Jeesh!”

Bella raised her arms in a mock gesture of surrender and the two girls laughed.

“Can I continue now?” Eva asked.

“Please.”

“So, as I was saying, Sebastian and I were there, we headed on back to our dorms, got caught up in the rain and decided to stop by the abandoned house. Then, Frey and Dorian arrived there, too. One thing led to another, and… you know,” Eva shrugged her shoulders innocently.

“What?” Bella’s eyes widened with disbelief. “All three?”

“Mhm,” Eva nodded.

“Girl… you’re on fire!”

They both laughed.

“Well, I told you, I’m not for the typical one on one kind of relationshi

p. I like them all. So, why should I be forced to choose only one? If we’re all happy, then what’s the big deal?”

“You know what? That sounds perfectly reasonable.”

At that moment, a sound interrupted them. They couldn’t recognize it immediately, but they could hear it came from the door. They glanced in that direction, and noticed that the sound came from someone shoving an envelope underneath their door. Now, it was laying there on the floor, gleaming yellow.

“What is that?” Bella asked, eyeing the envelope, then Eva.

“I don’t know,” Eva shook her head.

Bella got up and slowly walked over to it, as if it was a wild animal and she was afraid that a sudden move might frighten it and make it aggressive. She bent down and picked it up.

“It has your name on it,” she told Eva, offering it to her.

Eva jumped out of bed and rushed over. She took the envelope and opened it. A piece of paper was carefully folded inside. When she read what it said, she gasped.

“What is it?”

Bella jumped to her side, ready to help.

“It’s… my dad,” Eva managed to mutter, between moans and crying. “He wants us to meet.”

Bella took the letter and read it.

Evie pie,

Meet me by the well at midnight. Tell no one.

Dad

Bella eyed Eva for a second. It all appeared so perfectly aligned, but could it all be true? Eva seemed to think so. She was crying tears of joy and Bella knew she would be counting the minutes until midnight.

“Are you sure it’s really from him?” Bella asked.

“Of course,” Eva replied, “it’s his handwriting.”
