No one said a word. The only sound that was audible was the silent breathing of the two men who were already fast asleep. She toyed with the idea of getting up slowly, careful not to wake them up, and just going home, but the exhaustion was too overpowering. She didn’t even realize that she’d closed her eyes, everything became dark and peaceful.

Chapter 10

When Rene woke up, she didn’t remember immediately where she was. The unfamiliar window opened up before her, curtains drawn. She rubbed her eyes, thinking she might still be seeing remnants from her crazy dream from last night, when she dreamt that she slept with…

It was then that she realized that this wasn’t a dream. She really slept with Hyde and Jesse, and right now, she was lying naked in Hyde’s bed. She frantically looked left, then right. She was alone in the room. In the corner, there was an antique armchair, and her clothes lay neatly strewn over it. She didn’t dare look under the covers. She knew she was fully naked.

She propped herself up, listening to the sounds around. The door to Hyde’s bedroom was closed, so only silence reigned within. She took a deep breath, then jumped out of bed and quickly got dressed. In haste, she didn’t realize that she put the t-shirt on inside out.

She took another deep breath, trying to come up with a plausible excuse or an explanation, or anything really, which might help her keep this job, and make Hyde think she wasn’t one of those girls who did this on a regular basis. She knew if she told them that she’d never done this before, they wouldn’t believe her. She wouldn’t believe herself, either. She simply needed to acknowledge the mistake and show them that she didn’t have the habit of running away from accepting responsibility.

She pressed on the door handle and opened the door. The hallway was empty. It was stupid to stay the night, but she was too tired to go anywhere, and she didn’t even realize that she had fallen asleep. She took one step into the hallway and suddenly heard laughter from the kitchen. She stopped to listen.

Was Parker there? If he was, how the Hell was she going to explain being here so early in the morning? Or maybe, so late? She had no idea what time it was, either. This whole day was a mess, and it only

promised to get worse.

She heard Hyde’s voice. He was laughing. Then, another voice joined.

Oh, crap. They’re both here.

It would have been difficult enough facing Hyde alone, now she had to face both of them at the same time. Rene felt like just rushing out the door, and never coming back. That would be the easiest solution. Simply to never see either of them again, and start over somewhere new. But, she knew she’d miss them. After last night, she knew she was in love with both of them, as stupid as that may sound. So, of course running was out of the question. Explaining the situation was equally crazy, as there was no reasonable explanation to what happened last night. They got drunk and had crazy, hot sex. Now what?

She realized that there was no point in trying to figure out the situation. There was no point in considering the possible if’s and but’s. She needed to bite the bullet and play it by ear.

Boldly, she walked into the kitchen and stood at the doorway. Hyde was by the stove, making pancakes and Jesse was sitting on a bar stool next to him. They’d been talking previously, but the moment they heard her come in, they both turned to her. They looked fresh, as if they’d had a perfect night’s rest. They were both grinning.

“Good morning,” she muttered first.

“Morning, sleeping beauty,” Jesse greeted her first. “Why don’t you sit down? We’re making you breakfast?”

“We?” Hyde snickered. “You mean me.”

“Yeah, that’s what I meant,” Jesse laughed, and Rene couldn’t help but smile as well.

“Blueberry pancakes with maple syrup?” Hyde asked.

“That sounds delicious,” she nodded and, in a second, as if by magic, a plate with blueberry maple syrup pancakes appeared before her.

Next to it was a glass of fresh orange juice, and a steaming cup of coffee.

“Wow,” she eyed the plethora of food before her, “a girl could get used to this.”

“A girl should get used to this,” Hyde corrected her.

“Maybe it’s best we talked about what happened last night, before we continue with anything,” she urged them, a little worried.

“Sure,” Hyde wiped his hands with a kitchen towel, then sat at the table opposite her. Jesse did the same. “You seem worried. Is everything alright?”

“What happened last night was…” she started, when Jesse interfered.

“Awesome?” he grinned.

“Magnificent?” Hyde had some input, too.

“Crazy,” she shook her head. “It can’t happen again.”

“What?” Jesse wasn’t too happy to hear that. “Why?”
