“Where is the feed?”

Grayson stepped forward and turned his phone toward him. “Right here.”

When Rider saw his face, he was impressed with the size and clarity. “That is very cool, but why do you want it? Do you plan on seducing Doug Peterson, hoping he’ll share what the company is doing?”

“Eww. No. I’d rather have my father go free than get near that creep.”

“Paris,” Grayson said. “Tell him your plan.”

She faced Rider. “Just hear me out.”

She made it sound as if he was an unreasonable man. “I’m listening.”

“I'll create a fake inventory list to show my father. Since Doug doesn’t work tomorrow, I'll ask to see the boss directly. It will be of the most urgent matter regarding possible illegal activity.”

“He won’t be able to resist that,” Rider said.

“No, he won’t.”

“When I am in his office, Grayson will be able to see what I see.”

“Which is?” he asked.

“The bookcase.”

Rider leaned back. “Oh, I see. You think he’ll be so scared, that he’ll press some button that will open the door to some secret passageway? And if he does, he’ll just let you sit there?”

“No. That’s the point. I want him to kidnap me.”

If Rider had been drinking something, he would have sprayed it all over his well-crafted papers.

CHAPTERNINETEEN

“Areyou out of your ever-loving mind?” Rider asked.

"I knew you'd be upset. Do you have a better idea? This way you can be assured that a tunnel either leads to his escape hatch or to this underground factory.”

“Oh, I see. You think Dr. Delancey will want to show off this illegal activity to a fairly new worker?”

“I’ll tell him I’m his daughter.” Paris lifted her head.

“And he’ll give a shit?” Rider shot back. “He certainly didn’t give a fuck when you were born.”

“He didn’t know my mother was pregnant.” She seemed unfazed by his crass comments.

Paris was delusional if she thought being his daughter would mean anything to this Colter—or rather presumed, evil Colter.

Rider waved a hand. “Not going to happen. At least not at the moment. Let us try some other avenues first.”

“Like using that little drone?”

“Yes.” He turned to Grayson. “I spoke with the general.”

“What did he say?”

“First, let me tell you about my experience at the testing lab.” He explained that had he not mentioned the general’s name, they would not have received any kind of quick service.”

“You keep mentioning this general. Who is he exactly?” Paris asked.
