“Someone who runs the Pack. He has a lot of experience dealing with the Colters. We’ve speculated that the general must have inherited quite a lot of money, since he has a private jet and a lot of connections. Lucky for us, he now has the means to take them down.”

“I like this general,” Paris said.

“Me too.”

“Besides receiving quick service at the lab, did the general say anything else?” Grayson asked.

“Apparently, the woman Doug Peterson threatened, just went to the police.”

Paris moved closer. “Really? What did she say? Did she report that creep Doug?”

“In fact she did. She asked for a restraining order against him. However, since Doug only spoke with her—however harshly—the police can’t do much.” Rider held up a hand when Grayson moved forward. “Don’t worry. Liam and Alex are there now to make sure nothing happens to the family.”

She placed a hand on Rider’s arm. “Thank you.”

“Just doing my job.”

“Do you think she might telluswhy Doug threatened her?” Grayson asked.

“I doubt it. No one wants to admit their husband is committing a crime. Besides, if news of our interference reached Delancey, it could be bad.”

"Agreed," Grayson said.

“Is there any way your Mick friend can learn where Sergio works now?” Paris asked.

“He tried, but he ran into a dead end. Mick found no employment in the last two years.”

Someone knocked on their door, and Rider pushed back his chair. “I bet that is the new recruits now.” Rider answered the door to find his three friends.

“Rider. Good to see you,” Connolly shook his hand.

“Come in, and let me introduce you to part of the team. Two of the others are doing surveillance.”

Paris and Charley seemed to hit it off immediately, which didn’t surprise him. They were both strong-willed and smart women.

“If the three of you are going to stay next door, I need to pack up my things,” Paris said.

“Need help?” Charley asked.

“Love some.”

* * *

“Charley, you’re an actual huntress?” Paris asked with awe.

“I am. My day job was that of an accountant, but since my dad had been in the military, he taught me how to use guns—assault rifles in particular. I thought a bow and arrow was a bit more feminine—not to mention quieter—so I took that up.”

“I wish I had a skill.”

Charley smiled. “It’s better to remain far from the fray, and you can’t do that if you aren’t skilled. If you’re close enough to shoot them, they can shoot you or worse, rip you to shreds. Since the men we usually go up against are werewolves, unless you hit their heart, they’ll still attack.”

Paris chuckled. “I get it. I need to leave the fighting to the men.”

“Exactly.”

Once in her room, Paris placed her large suitcase on the bed. “If you could grab the stuff from the closet, I’ll pick up the bathroom.”

“I can do that,” Charley said.
