Page 76 of Craving Their Mate

Mick smiled and then slightly shook his head. “Don’t underestimate my little mate. She’s just as much of a warrior as we are.”

Paris wished she had a bit more talent in that department. All she had was guts and hopefully brains, which had to count for something.

She contacted Rider and told him where they were. “If he is still in his wolf form, he won’t be able to answer, though,” Paris said.

“I’ll contact Charley,” Mick said. “I’ll tell her that we ran intobadDoug and that the group needs to stay low for a bit.”

“Will she have her phone on her?”

“Always, at least when we’re on a mission she will.”

“Mention we have both cars should they decide to go down the side rather than return up the hill.”

“Will do.”

Mick texted her and received an answer back rather quickly.

“What did she say?”

“They will find us.”

“Now we wait.”

It wasn't long before Rider tapped on the car window, jarring her. Daydreaming was not a good trait. Paris needed to be more diligent. Grayson had already returned to his car in case someone like Doug showed up.

She rolled down the window. “Hey.”

“You okay?” he asked.

“I’m good. I told Doug that Mick was my cousin, and that I was showing him what Ames had to offer. He seemed to buy my story.”

“Do you think he was sent up there to check out any activity?”

“Doug has the day off, but it's possible he could have been asked to come up here.”

Rider nodded. “I’ll drive.”

Since it was his car, she couldn’t argue.

When Grayson climbed in back, she took the front passenger seat. “Did the drone show anything?”

“You’ll have to ask Connolly. It showed something, but I’m not great at reading thermal images and figuring out what they mean,” Grayson said.

The trip back to the motel was thankfully uneventful, though Rider kept checking his rear and side view mirrors. When they arrived at the motel, they headed next door to see the images from the drone. She had to admit there wasn’t much there other than to confirm there was a tunnel of some sorts.

“What’s the plan, boss?” Connolly asked. Considering Rider told her that Connolly had led the last team, it must seem odd to him to have Rider now be in charge.

“We’ll go back tonight a little before eleven and do the drone flyover where we believe the cars are entering and exiting.”

“I’ll have to figure out a way to strap on the drone while in my wolf form.”

“I can help,” Charley said. “I’ll put one on you as soon as you shift. Yes, I know, I’ll have to stay outside the gate. The four of you can then sneak in.”

She loved how good Charley was with tactics. “Anything I can do?” Paris asked.

Grayson wrapped an arm around her shoulder. “How about wishing us luck?”

That was rather patronizing, but she had no better suggestion. “Fine.”
