Page 86 of Craving Their Mate

Grayson groaned. “The car must be scrambling the signal, which suggests that Delancey must have expected trouble at some point. Let’s go. Do we know what kind of car Delancey drives?”

No one answered. “Maybe Jenna does,” Rider said.

“I'll call her from the car.”

Rider faced his two men. “As soon as Paris comes on line, call us.”

“Yes, boss.”

They both raced out to his Jeep. Rider had to draw on all of his composure not to do something stupid. When he found Paris, he wasn’t sure if he would kiss her or kill her.

As soon as Rider took off, Grayson dialed Jenna’s number and then put the phone on speaker. When he told her what happened, Jenna was clearly upset. “Do you know what car Delancey drives?” Grayson asked.

“No, I don’t. I'm pretty sure he has a driver though. I mean I’ve seen him get into something like a Lincoln Town Car, but I’m not positive that’s the brand.”

“What color?”

“Black, I think.”

“That helps, thank you.”

“Have you tried calling her?” Jenna asked.

"Delancey took her phone. Even if he hadn't, she can't call." He explained about the blindfold, handcuffs, and the fact the car seems to have a scrambler.

“I can't believe this. Do you think her own father would harm her?”

Grayson looked over at Rider who nodded. “We’ll let you know when we find her.”

“Thank you.”

Grayson disconnected. “Where do you think he's taking Paris?”

“If I were him, I’d get out of the country—assuming he’s guilty. We can’t be sure what Paris told him, but it was enough to scare the man into taking her hostage and running.

“Are you thinking she’s alive because he wants to use her as a bargaining chip?” Grayson asked.

“If I were him, I would.”

Rider's phone buzzed, indicating a text message. He pulled it out and handed it to Grayson. "See what it says."

Grayson read it over. "It's from the lab that tested the coffee beans. It says they contained cocaine and fentanyl."

"As we suspected. I suppose those results are a good thing," Rider said. "Let's hope we can now tie it to Harrison Industries."

"We will."

They drove for fifteen minutes until they neared the highway. Now they had to decide whether to head East or West.

“The general flew me from Florida to a private airstrip near Toronto, about ninety minutes from here,” Grayson said. “If I were Delancey, that’s where I would go.”

“It’s worth a shot. Liam will call once she leaves the car.”

“Let’s hope she convinces them she needs to use the bathroom so we can get a status update on her location.”

“That would help.”

Rider kept second guessing himself regarding whether he should call Connolly and Mick and take them off the Gonzalez tail. They could head west on the highway while he and Grayson went right toward Toronto. Since Rider lived on the west side of Ames, he was well aware there wasn’t a lot in that direction, so that might not be the best use of his resources.Shit. He couldn’t even think straight.
