Page 88 of Craving Their Mate

The man said nothing as he sat in the far back. Her father didn’t even glance her way as he took a seat in front. The pilot climbed into the cockpit, closed the door, and revved the engine.

He spoke to the tower, probably for permission to take off. Unfortunately, she couldn’t hear what he said. Suddenly, the pilot emerged, walked over to Delancey and leaned over to say something to him.

“I don’t care what the tower said. Take off,” her father demanded.

“Sir, it’s against the rules.”

“I don’t give a fuck.”

The pilot turned around and returned to the cockpit. Seconds later, they were taxiing down the runway. Had her men figured out what Delancey had planned to do and called the tower?

No amount of speculation would do any good once the plane gained momentum and took flight. Her heart sank at the fact this was not going to end well.

CHAPTERTWENTY-FOUR

“What doyou mean they took off?” Grayson practically yelled at the man in the tower.

“A General Armand called and told me there was a kidnapping in progress, so I told them they did not have clearance to take off, but they did it anyway.”

Shit.

“Did they say where they were headed, at least?” Rider asked.

The air traffic controller flipped through some pages. “The flight plan says Florida.”

“Where in Florida?”

“Tampa.”

“Which airport?” Rider asked.

“Peter O’Knight airport, but they don’t seem like the type to follow their plan.”

The man had a point. “Thank you. How long ago would you say they left?”

“Fifteen minutes, maybe.”

Anger was rolling off Rider, and that wasn’t good. Not that Grayson thought his friend would make any bad decisions, but Rider could be rather impetuous if the stakes were high enough.

He and Rider took the elevator back to the tarmac. “What do you want to do?” Grayson asked.

Before Rider had a chance to answer, a man in a uniform raced up to them. “Are you Rider Scott and Grayson Whitlock?”

“We are.”

He pulled out his phone. “I have instructions from General Armand to fly you to Florida.”

“Now?”

“Yes. He rented a plane, and I will be your captain.”

“My passport is in the car,” Rider said. “Be right back.”

Grayson patted his jacket pocket. “Got mine.”

Rider ran back to the car. While he was retrieving his credentials, Grayson called the general.

“Did you find her?” the general asked.
