“Yes, sir. Thank you,” Rider said.

“Come with me. I have a few people I want you to meet. You’ll need help if you want to save that young lady of yours.”

That was a nice surprise that he’d help them focus on Paris, but how did he know she was so important to them? The general must have heard the urgency in Grayson's voice. “Any idea how we can take down Delancey?” Rider asked.

“I was hoping you had an idea.”

“Not really, but Connolly just called and told us that one of the people who was threatened by Doug Peterson just skipped town. Connolly, Mick, and Charley are keeping an eye on them.”

“I bet with the right incentive, the person will provide us with some very useful information.”

“Let’s hope,” Rider said. “At present, our proof against Delancey is slim, but we’re quite certain there is a lab on the premises. We just need to find it.”

“I’m sure you will,” the general said.

“Do you have any idea where Delancey might have taken Paris?” Grayson asked.

“No, which is why I asked Jay Wagner to meet us at my house. He should have more insight into the matter.”

Grayson had heard of the name, but he didn’t know much about him. “What does he know?”

“Jay Wagner worked undercover for Paul Statler. Since Richard Delancey is, or should I say was, Statler’s half-brother, there might be some place that both of them used to live. For all I know, Delancey inherited a house when Statler died.”

“I bet Mick can find out—or rather his team can since he’s a little busy at the moment.”

“Ask him,” the general said.

“I plan to.”

Turns out the general resided in the area, so it didn’t take long to reach his house. Now that he’d retired from the military, he worked from home. The general pulled in his driveway. “Since you have no luggage, I’ll have my wife pick up a few things for you two. Give her your sizes, and she’ll do right by you.”

“That's more than generous of you, sir,” Rider said.

Grayson was very impressed. He had worked one other assignment for the man, and the general had been equally generous with his time and money.

When they entered the beautifully appointed home, a smiling woman approached. She was in her early sixties and looked quite fit.

“This is my lovely wife who is an expert shopper.”

She waved a hand and then ran her gaze up and down their bodies. “I’m very good at guessing sizes, but just in case, let me get some paper and you can write down the information.”

While Grayson didn’t want her to go to all of the trouble, they would need a change of clothes and some toiletries. “Thank you.”

Voices sounded. A few seconds later, three men came out from the back, but Grayson didn’t recognize any of them.

The general pointed to the first gentleman, who looked more like a lawyer than a fighter. “This is Jay Wagner. I’m hoping he can help with figuring out where Delancey might have taken Paris.”

“That would be awesome,” Grayson said.

“And these two brutes are Harmon Jeffries and Nate Drummond. They're great fighters. We're lucky they were available to help.”

Rider held out his hand first. “Rider Scott.”

“Nice to meet you.”

Grayson then introduced himself.

The general motioned them into the living room. “I’ll let you gentlemen plan your next move. Can I get you all a beer?”
